A memorial event marking the anniversary of the murder of Rabbi Gavriel and Rivkah Holtzberg hy”d, Shluchim to Mumbai, will take place Wednesday, Rosh Chodesh Kislev, in front of 770 in Kfar Chabad, Israel.
The invitation-only event, which will include the ‘upshernish’ of Moishy Holtzberg, was organized by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Aharonov, Chairman of Agudas Chassidei Chabad in Israel, along with Rabbi Shimon Rosenberg, Rivka Holtzberg’s father.
Rabbi Rosenberg specifically requested that the event take place at the 770 building’s plaza, in the same spot where the Holtzberg’s funeral took place one year ago, spreading the message that their Shlichus will continue, and marking the beginning of the education of the Holtzberg’s son Moishy in the ways of Torah.
A huge tent has been erected to accommodate the crowd that is expected. The tent can accommodate 2,500 guests, which will include the Rosenberg and Holtzberg families and friends, as well as Shluchim and supporters from throughout Israel and the world.
The event will be attended by many important Rabbis, ministers, members of the Knesset, personal friends of the Holtzbergs, and their supporters.
Chassidic singer Avraham Fried will perform.
Media outlets from around the world plan to cover the event, such as AP, Sky News, the BBC, and NBC. Representatives from all of Israel’s TV stations, daily newspapers, leading Internet sites, and radio stations have promised to send reporters to cover the ceremony, including the speeches and Moishy’s upshernish. Parts of the ceremony will be broadcast live.
Currently there is a waiting list of people wishing to attend.
