The New York Police Departement has arrested Joshua Peters, 20, identified as the third man suspected of mercilessly attacking 2 Jewish men in Crown Heights early Wednesday morning.
Peters, Nazar Walters, 18, Teshon Bannister, 21, were arraigned in a Brooklyn court Friday and face robbery and assault as hate crime charges in connection with two separate attacks.
The attack, caught on surveillance camera, showed them knocking down a 51-year-old Chassidic man to the ground and then punching and kicking him. They said nothing, but punched the victim in the face and body, leaving him with cuts and bruises, officials said.
Minutes earlier, Mendel, a 22-year-old Yeshiva student from Australia, was attacked half a block away, the New York Post reported. Police believe the two assaults are linked.
“We allege that this senseless and violent attack was motivated by bias and are determined to hold the defendants accountable,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in a statement. “We must all stand up against the proliferation of hate crimes and work with all communities to promote tolerance and unity.”
Police said anti-Semitic attacks have been on the rise in New York City. There were 189 anti-Semitic crimes in 2018 up from 154 in 2017, according to the NYPD.

Attend the monthly police meeting and show the politicians you want more funding for cops and cameras. Perhaps the shul reps can attend or get members to attend. A photo with showing public interest in crime prevention can result in increased allocation of funds and increased interest by DA’s office who prosecutes these cases.
If by chance, the meeting place changes and is not at the school, it will usually be across street at the precinct.

Two of the three perps don’t live in CH.
One lives in Brownsville, and the other in Flatbush. I did a search on whitepages.com. I could not find info on the third. Point is, they are not your neighbors and therefore a community watch group of non Shmira/Shomrim must be careful to not cause more problems than it endeavors to solve.
Are there photos of the perpetrators, so we can know how they look, (and be aware as soon as the police will most likely release them?)
In the democratic primary, based upon demographics, you will have two African-American candidates who both claim to be the progressive. If the Jewish community asks both potential candidates who will push for additional funding for security cameras and cops, then the candidate that embraces the issue will get the Jewish vote.
This strategy can work in the City Council election, the NYS elections, and the Federal Elections.
