I really think next year the judges need to use a clear cut system in which to pick the winners with categories such as, stage presence, voice range, tone etc…instead of arbitrarily picking whoever they like for whatever reason…..Mendel Piekarski from the junior division was so obviously the best it makes you wonder, why didn’t he win? Guess we’ll never know!

He’s in his own caliber , very versatile as a singer and brings a lot of chein with him. You can see he’s comfortable on the stage so it’s a pleasure to watch.
Moshe Bitton also has a beautiful voice and a beautiful soul to him. Kudos to Pinchas Tzinman who writes a lot of original russian stuff, just too bad he entered an american competition. ANyway, may the Force be with all of them!

I’m not related to you and have never heard you before this contest, you definitely have an unbelievable voice. I don’t go for chazanus but there’s something powerful and original about your voice. As a musician, I can say that some of these singers were not top-notch in their pitch or strength of voice. Some of that might be due to nerves, but it’s a STAR they were looking for. Given that, I agree with the final decision. The winner had the best pitch, best style, best natural talent for what the contest was about. Without naming names, I would say that some of the contestants could do with voice lessons to improve control and strength in their talent. A few didn’t really seem ready to sing as potential stars. Watching the video was incredible and i really enjoyed it. However, there are so many people that couldn’t make it to the concert. people that live out of town, or mothers with children that need to be at home at that hour.
Please for next year – make an option to have a live feed and people should be able to purchase a ticket online and watch it via live feed. (like the kinus banquet) I believe that many people would buy such a ticket.

i agree, that the voice is not the only thing, that performance is a need too, but…i agree with numbers, 5, 29, 33, 34, 46, 49, 52, 63, what they said about Minkowicz…..his voice is definitely very powerful, and the presence, well, THAT speaks for itself…….and its true it gives the chills…..good luck Dovi, in whatever you are going to pursue.

The Junior finalists were really great.
But besides for their singing, I think all of their parents should be really proud of them for how they handled losing the top spot. Such sportsmanship and grace, it really brought out the ‘Jewish’ part of this competition.
However hard it is for an adult, it’s much harder for a child to authentically congratulate their competition for winning.
I hope they all continue singing and entertaining. Each and every one of them are extremely talented.
It was the most exciting concert I havew ever been to, the place was rocking and the excitement was indescribable. The video really captures it. Thanks Jewish Star for a great event!!!
I’m not quite sure what everyone is going on about the judges. I think they were insightful throughout the show, obviously they’re not going to critique hard on the final performance but they brought out the good points in everyone. They’re looking for BOTH good voice and stage presence + personality. if you are a singer, you need both otherwise people will be bored at your concerts. IT IS TRULY PERPLEXING AS TO WHY THE JUDGES ONLY CHOOSE WINNERS THAT SING A FAST SONG. MOST OF THE SONGS THAT BROUGHT THE JUDGES THEMSELVES TO TRUE FAME WERE ON THE SLOW SIDE. Excellent production. Kudos to Sofers. And kudos for posting the critiques. I am sure you will fix for next year to cut out the Tzaar baalei Chaim on the contestants who go home. Also agree to get a more lebedik host like Minkowicz himself. All in all a kidush Hashem and good job by the producers.

Minkowitz and Piekarski were my choice. Minkowitz sang with so much hartz and very geshmaake Havoroh!Little piekarski exuded such self confidence. Kudos to the parents who brought such a talented child!

Your competition is wonderful, truly wonderful. In this day and age it’s nice to have a Jewish Music competition and be focused on the right sort of entertainment for Frum Jews. I am aware that you no doubt have spent much time and effort preparing and running this competition, even more so for the final concert. The winners deserve it! I am not a big fan of the way thy were announced tho, just announcing the winner is a much more sensitive way of going about such a contest. In all the video is enjoyable to watch and even tho many of you are still cheering on your contestants let the winners enjoy their win! Much hatzlocha to all!
There was alot of great talent that night, and I think choni deserved the title that night, but the only performance that moved me from the adults was Dovi mink… , so his voice was a little bit more hoarse since he was sick, but his tone, technique was beautiful, pity judges couldn’t at least put him in the final 3 and it seems that most people thought he deserved it. Can’t we get judges that appreciate all style music, I am getting tired of it always being one direction.

Why can’t we see the full performances? I feel very frustrated even though I went to the concert and enjoyed it there! I want to see it again! I’ll even willing to purchase a DVD of the full length concert! PLEASE!? Again, It was an awesome show and I’m looking forward to next year! I hope the winners and contestants put out CD’s!

Great video but I have one critique, those watching this video are most interested in seeing the winning performance. This video should definitely have shown more than just a few seconds of Choni’s 2nd song, especially the part with matisyahu words, perhaps the whole thing, otherwise it’s missing an integral part of what this video is supposed to show. how the contest ended. after all everyone was able to see the rest of the contest online.
