No Jew left behind…
Shamai Chein, Ari Weiss and Menachem Baumgarten, students of the Chabad Yeshiva in Buenos Aires, Argentina, visited San Pedro de Colalao, a settlement in Tucumán Province, last year.
They were spending the summer at the Yeshiva program and went to the village as part of their Mivtzoim outreach efforts with local Jews, far removed from any Jewish community or institution.
That was when they met an elderly woman who was very happy to see them. She said that they have been the first Jews she has met for many years.
She later added that their visit was perfectly timed as she was considering joining her non-Jewish friends at their house of worship.
Following her encounter with the bochurim, she decided to stay strong in her Jewish identity.
This past week, the 3 bochurim followed up with a visit to San Pedro de Colalao and met with the woman again, hearing about her life and sharing with her words of inspiration from the Torah.
Would be great if they put up a mezuza and if they gave her a siddur or book of tehillim in her language
Does she have any jewish family?
shkoyach for sharing the stories!
It would be great if they could introduce her to some local Jews.
