On 26 Adar, 5751 – March 12, 1991, the Rebbe held a public audience for supporters of the Machne Israel Development Fund held at the main shul at Lubavitch Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway.
One of the visitors was Nachum Eizicovics, a Toronto jeweler who was active with Chabad of Markham and the Jewish Russian Community Centre (JRCC) of Ontario. He asked the Rebbe for a blessing for their activities.
After receiving blessings, Eizicovics went on to say, “I would like to bless the Rebbe with many long years…”
The Rebbe’s comment to that was chilling and he repeated it twice.
A year later, on the 27th of Adar I, 5752 (March 2, 1992), the Rebbe suffered a disabling stroke. On the same date two years later, the Rebbe lost consciousness following another stroke; 3 months later, on the 3rd of Tammuz 5754 (June 12, 1994), the Rebbe’s soul ascended on high, orphaning a generation.
please Rebbe!
יחי אדוננו מורנו ורבנו מלך המשיח לעולם ועד!!!
It is so inspiring to see a chosid so involved in the history of building what we all here in Toronto take for granted. It shows it is takes the grass roots chassidim like Reb Nachum to build a community. May we continue to grow ad biyas goel acharoyn.
he is for sure with us caring for us just as before! while at the same time we are missing the rebbe, and we want to see the Rebbe bepashtus with our physical eyes!!
I c your point, but let’s not call it orphaned. The Rebbe didn’t leave us, he is with us just in a concealed way. It’s like saying that bc we don’t c (revelations of) Hashem like the Jews did in the times of the beis hamikdosh and terrible things are happening that means Hashem has orphaned us c”v.
N. B. I am not saying that the Rebbe is Hashem! It’s just a moshel!
At the same time, did you notice the Rebbe’s freiliche, heartwarming smile when he was given the bracha? I’m coming away from this feeling uplifted.
The Rebbes foresight is chilling. Oy Ritzonenu liros es malkenu Rebbe we need you!
Chilling indeed..
And c”v to say that we are orphans! the Rebbe is with us more than before in the truest sense
your exact words, if you believe them why finish with a blessing, and again your words
may we be united with the rebbe in a body speedily
in basic english “if now he is with us more then before, why do you want him back on a body???
moshiach now!!!
the rebbes body left us NOT HIS NESHAMA!!!!! we need to get that clear! and c”v to say that we are orphans! the Rebbe is with us more than before in the truest sense. i understand that whoever wrote this tried to sound fancy ect, but its completely totally not true!
may we be united with the rebbe in a body speedily, right now!!!! moshiach now!!!!!!!!!!!
I can understand what you mean, but let’s face it we are orphaned. Being orphaned does not mean that life ends…. of course we have amazing things happening and our kids are doing amazing things but by the same token there is unfortunately a whole other side that would most certainly NOT be so if the Rebbe were here b’guf. To deny this is silly and unproductive. If you deny there is an issue it cannot be repaired. We need to recognize the good and the opposite and concentrate much much much more on encouraging and strengthening the good. B’H… Read more »
Boruch Hashem Yesh Lonu Rebbe – the Rebbe is constantly with us – may we merit to see him with our physical eyes bekorov Mammash now !
You choose to characterize the Rebbe’s response as chilling! For various reasons, I think that characterization is just plain wrong. The Rebbe simply states that HE can make good use of the time. While the Al-Mighty grants us years (especially with the “miracles” of modern medicine), what ultimately do we do with them? Do we use them to their full effect, and maximize our Torah study and performance of Mitzvos? I know that I should be doing much more with the time that I was granted. Long life is good, but very much more so when used for its true… Read more »
Indeed very chilling. It makes me teary-eyed reminded how much we miss the Rebbe. Amazing clip! Though I think the last sentence of the article is a bit strong.
WOW. THAT’S HEAVY STUFF
