On Shavuos 5726/1966, the Rebbe taught for the first time his revolutionary explanation on the essence of the debate between Reb Yishmael and Reb Akiva on the definition of Judaism, and how Reb Akiva dealt with the horrific torture of the Romans.
During that address, the Rebbe shared an amazing experience he had while living in Paris in the 1930s. “I was sitting in the home of a great Polish Rabbi living in Paris, when a woman walked in with a chicken,” the Rebbe said. What happened next served for the Rebbe as an illustration of what occurred on Shavuos 3333 years ago.
