In last week’s Living Torah from JEM, Rabbi Marvin Tokayer recalled the life changing audience in which the Rebbe brought the plight of the Jewish community in Japan to his attention, along with the suggestion that he might hold the solution to their problem.
In this week’s Living Torah, he relates how after agreeing to serve as rabbi there for a period of two years, he was thinking of backing out after his father suddenly passed away.
The Rebbe’s guidance and advice turned his challenge into the most rewarding experience of his life.
With respect: He did not imply that the Rebbe sent him as his emissary. He said that the Rebbe encouraged him to go and teach Torah to everyone. That’s sounds just like our Rebbe. Anybody that goes to Japan after he is married and stays for over 40 years to help yidden (And Shluchim) is without question treasured by the Rebbe and that’s all that matters. Placing a label on the type of Rabbi is missing the entire beauty and depth of the relationship of the Rebbe and his flock….. Moshiach now!!!
Was so impressed with the clip and then read first comment…… Can anyone else confirm comment 1?
I know Rabbi Tokayer personally and I can afirm that the Rebbe did NOT send him as a conservative Rabbi the Rebbe did tell him if he gets an offer he should go but the Rebbe made very clear he is NOT sending him.
A gut Voch and a Gut Chodesh.
