was not composed by charitonov and is not even a lubavitcher niggun. I think Skever nigun

    you're so wrong!

the tune was composed by Reb Sholom Charitonov and can be found in Sefer Hanigunim Chabad! the words to the Yom Kippur tefila of “yaale” was added later by Chabad Baalei Tefiloh and others. you may want to look into this further and you may want to contact Rabbi Zalman Goldstein (Monsey) or Rabbi Dovid Horowitz (Crown Heights). These guys got the goods on the origins and history of many niggunim. you may also want to contact Avrohom Fried who used this tune for one of his songs as well. Thank you reb Meyer Rivkin for bringing this gem to… Read more »

    beautifull Lubavitcher Niggun!

the tune is so inspiring and beautifull, others want to take credit for it. i don’t blame them. this IS a Lubavitcher niggun.

notice in comment #1 he spells “lubavitch” without a capital L, but spells “Skever” with a capital S. this individual must be a Skeverer chossid and would like to take credit for the song. B”H Lubavitch and Skever were always on good terms, but sorry, no cigar.

Rabbi CH. M. Bukiet who was my Rosh Hayeshiva in Lubavitch at Bedford & Dean and who i loved very much, used to say: ke ke…”sedu asach tzi redden.” there are many things i can say in review of this video, but i have neither the time nor will to do so. However, i do want to say that overall this peice of work is a winner. Hatzlocho and we should merit to see more. A Gmar Chasima Toivoh to all.

i must admit, i repeated playing the video 3 times and did not detect a problem with the pronounciation. the music is a bit funky though in some places. i sing this niggun often at my shabbos table the same its sung on the video, and nobody has corrected me so far.

it’s a known fact, you can’t make money on a cd with all the nice illegal uploaders and downloaders of music. he is probably a happy camper (camps song…get it?) if he breaks even! did a good job on the video though. i like his voice and style and look forward to his new cd.

you did it once and again. seems like every detail was thought out and then again so, your attention to detail is what i was always impressed with when you published the uforatzta magazine and then when you were a building contactor. and now this effort for perfection with your music and video productions as well. it shows. don’t stop keep up what you are doing for the sake of the many who are inspired by your work. yasher

    please read softly not gruffly:)

he doesn’t stress on the right words. dreeeem? you never stress on an eeeeee sound in a song. besides if your not a lubavitcher you understand maybe half of the ideeas. “the buttons are polished” will any not lubavitcher understand?

there is no way he can translate or explain every word in the song. it’s a video! for crying out loud! if his previous cd’s are an indication, i have no doubt that when the cd is released we will see a complete printed booklet with all the details and important information. i am sorry to have to say this, it being erev yom kippur and aseres yimay tshuva and all – but you’re (mr. allowed to…) nottin but a trouble-maker and it seems, with a chip on your shoulder to boot. it’s erev yom kippur buddy! get a life!

was the niggun composed by Reb Sholom or Reb Aaron Charitonov. both of them were giants in neggina and the Rebbeim held them in highest esteem for their devotion. both truly great chassidim.

in the future mayer should check with those in the know. There happens to be a niggun yaaleh from reb sholom a”h charitonov(nikolaiever) but it is a totally different song. Post 37 stated correctly this melody is an alter karliner niggun sung correctly by lubavitch, sung incorrectly in poilishe shtieblach to the words of lecha doodi and ultimately by avraham fried

    confused!

The Yaaleh I know and have sung together with the Chazan in 770 for many, many years (not ki hinei kachomer) on Yom Kippur night, is the same as the tune to which Reb Mayer Rivkin sings it in the promise video.

    also confused

the composer of YAALEH could have been Reb Sholom or Reb Aharon or even a karliner. one thing i know for sure is that the yaaleh sung in 770 for years and years is the same tune as rivkins THE PROMISE tune. the KI HINEI CHCHOMER niggun is another niggun not be confused with the first tefilah after shmonei esrei of maariv. would appreciate if one of the true “kenners” in neginah post the real story instead of the guys above, who are just confusing me. i am sure rivkin will appreciate it also. one thing is fore sure…i will… Read more »

CAN SOMEONE OUT THERE PLEASE CLEARIFY FOR ME ONE THING (MUST KNOW WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT):

WHO IS THE COMPOSER OF THE NIGGUN THAT WE ALL SING ON YOM KIPPUR NIGHT TO THE TEFILOH OF “YAALEH TACHANUNAYNU MAYEREV”….?

NO COMMENTARIES PLEASE ! JUST A SIMPLE ANSWER.

TRUTH BE TOLD, IT WAS NEVER IMPORTANT FOR ME TO KNOW. BUT THE QUESTION HAS COME UP HERE AND I AM FRANKLY INTRIGUEDE AS TO THE FINAL CORRECT ANSWER. SHKOYACH!

This song was composed way before the charitinovs emerged on this world, hakt nisht in tchanik, it is NOT a lubavitcher niggun even though lubavitch adapted it to as their niggun for yaaleh

    so important?
    Guest
    so important?

i dont understand what the whole fuss is about. why is it so important to know who the composer of this song was in the first place?

the bottom line is that rav rivkin brought it to us here and performs the melody with feeling and grace, inspiring us to teshuva and an awareness (at least for me) of the need to beg and cry for moshiach. may hashem send him speedily!

you seem to say what you’re saying with much conviction and force, that the song was not composed by the charitonovs and that it’s not of ubavitch origin. that may very well be the case. however, wouldn’t it be only right for you to continue in your claim by telling all of us, who composed it and when this song was actually born. otherwise, your credibility is worthless in my oppinion.

what’s the connection? one thing is for certain, the charitonovs were not mechaber this niggun. maybe the charitinovs were mechaber all niggunim from 150 years ago since we don’t know who the actual mechaber was. A kop ken men nisht aroifshtelen!!!!!!!

who cares! the bottom line is that this video probably already has and certainly will, continue to inspire thousands of people to the awareness of moshiach and the method of making it a reality. it promted a tear or two in me and in a number of people i discussed this video with, so……who cares who the mechaber was? …just watch this thing and then do a friend a favor by fowarding it to him/her. believe me, they will thank you. gemar tov!

I DON’T LIVE IN FLORIDA BUT I WAS IN MIAMI FOR YOM KIPPUR. I MUST COMMENT HERE (IT’S ONLY A FEW HOURES AFTER YOM TOV) THAT I HAVE NEVER, EVER ,HEARD A MORE BEAUTIUL AND INSPIRING DAVENING THAN THAT OF OF MEYER RIVKIN IN THE BEL HARBOR SHUL. THIS IS NOT MY OPINION ONLY. EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL SITTING NEXT TO ME WAS EQUALLY IMPRESSED. I NEVER COMMENT ON THESE FORUMS BUT COULD NOT RESIST DOING SO TONIGHT.
