In time for Yom Kippur, Infinity Productions, the production Company that produces music videos and CD albums for the Chabad Vocalist Mayer Rivkin, has announced the release of its latest music video entitled “The Promise.”
In this moving music video/slide-show, Rivkin sings the popular Chabad melody known to many as “Yaaleh,” frequently sung during the evening prayers of Yom Kippur.
The niggun (melody) was composed by the prolific composer, Chabad vocalist and great Chossid, Rabbi Sholom Charitonov, z”l, of the Ukraine, with English lyrics added during the summer of 1991 at Camp Gan Israel, Detroit Michigan.
The heart wrenching tune, lyrics and images in the video, illustrate the pain and confusion of the current bitter exile and the unfaltering faith with which Jews proclaim, as per the songs lyrics: “Hashem made a promise, we will be redeemed, Moshiach will come to fulfill our dream.”
When asked, why this title, why now? … Rivkin replied … “upon realizing that every single song we chose for the album was about Moshiach and Guelah (redemption), I felt in my heart, that I must create a music video that will precede the new album, entitled REDEMPTION, that will inspire those of us who are, perhaps as of yet, not truly sincere in their longing and anticipation for the coming of Moshiach. Waiting for Moshiach is not simply a good thing but our obligation. The lyrics in the song compel us to beg, cry and indeed demand that THE PROMISE of redemption be fulfilled now. As the Rebbe says in the video … together with our demands and with one single act, or even thought, of goodness and kindness, we will surely bring Moshiach.”
For the benefit of the hearing impaired and for the purpose of following the lyrics with ease, sub-titles have been added to the video.
