With Hadassah Lebovic’s 13th birthday and 1st yahrzeit coming up, Bikur Cholim of Crown Heights dedicated their Annual Breakfast in her memory and celebrated a special initiative established in her name: Hadassah’s Place.
Hadassah’s Place is a beautifully decorated, fully-stocked, handicap-accessible and completely private 2-bedroom apartment in the heart of Crown Heights, reserved for families of patients traveling to NYC for medical treatment.
At Sunday’s event, Bikur Cholim debuted a moving short film, by Bentzi Avtzon of Yuvla Media, that tells the story of the Lebovic family’s dedication to Bikur Cholim, and more specifically, Hadassah’s joyful, generous, and hospitable nature which ultimately led to the establishment of Hadassah’s Place. Hadassah’s parents and siblings bravely open up on screen about the unthinkable tragedy they experienced and their courageous response.
Since opening its doors on January 16, 2022, Hadassah’s Place has already hosted 27 people! The hospitality suite provides much needed respite, a cozy home-away-from-home, for families traveling to NYC for critical care.
Hadassah’s Place is an expensive project that requires substantial funding to operate; mortgage, utilities, maintenance, and other expenses. Bikur cholim is tremendously grateful to the donors who made the initial down payment and renovations possible, But the organization still counts on the community’s help to continue to operate Hadassah’s Place.
Please consider becoming a monthly sustainer to help keep Hadassah’s Place and Hadassah Lebovic’s memory alive: www.bikurcholimCH.org/donate.
