An explanation given is the following. The Nefesh is Ruchnius and the Guf is Gashmius. How and where can the two become united. The answer is the lowest level of Ruchnius, the Nefesh Habihamis which is from Klipas Noiga of Asiya Gashmi meets up with the most spiritual or ethereal level of Gashmius which is the warmth of the blood. My Zayde learned Tanya with the Rebbe in Berlin and the Rebbe told him that it was written as a book of Eitzos…..for the impoverished people in his time….
Obviously the Alter Rebbe knew science and wrote the Tanya for people who had irrational fears of God and punishment being they grew up in Reisin…. this area in Russia had lots of Theologians and the people’s were convinced…. Beliefs the Rambam and Ibin Ezra never supported….
I really enjoyed this but didn’t have these questions in tanya and hadn’t seen a conflict of science and tanya
