The CB”D House of Toronto Welcomes its First Sefer Torah

With joyous song and dance, the Chabad community of Thornhill, Ontario celebrated the Hachnosas Sefer Torah for the CB”D (ChaBaD) House–the newest shul for the younger chevrah of the Greater Toronto Area.

Spawned from a desire to have their own place to come daven, the original weekly shabbos minyan of about fifteen young men gradually picked up steam over the past two years to evolve into a full-on hub of Shabbos/Yom Tov davening and learning, weekly shiurim, kiddush club and Ezras Nashim for the newly married.

The minyan is comfortably housed in the upscale residential garage of the Ostfeld Family, renovated and retrofitted by its dedicated members with all the necessary amenities for a functioning Shul. The crowning glory was Sunday’s festive addition of its own Sefer Torah, generously donated by Roman and Suzy Goldstein and Family in honor of the continued growth of the community.

The celebration was attended by the extended Anash Community, including Chabad Director of Southern Ontario Rabbi Zalman Aaron Grossbaum, Director of Education Rabbi Yossi Gansburg, Rabbi Yona Shur of Cheder Chabad, and Rabbi Boruch Zaltzman of Mesivta Ohr Temimim.
