The Learn-A-Thon is scheduled to start today, 7 Cheshvan, and will run for only four weeks, concluding on 7 Kislev. A special raffle with exciting prizes will be held on 20 Kislev, Rosh Hashana L’chassidus, which is also Levi’s birthday.
After the passing of Levi Yitzchok Wolowik a”h on Daled Adar, his parents Rabbi Zalman and Chani Wolowik, shluchim of the Rebbe to the Five Towns, commissioned a sofer to begin writing a Torah in their son’s memory. And because Levi was the epitome of Ahavas Yisroel, and a true soldier in Tzvios Hashem, they felt that the Torah had to include all of his fellow soldiers.
And so, “Levi’s Torah” was born.
The Sefer Torah will be written exclusively by children in the Army of Hashem, from all over the nation, through the Tanya Learn-A-Thon.
Last year, Phase One of Levi’s Torah was launched and the response was unbelievable!
Rabbi Shimmy Weinbaum of Tzivos Hashem was extremely pleased with the initial learning results. “The children were incredibly motivated to keep learning and raising funds towards Levi’s Torah,” says Rabbi Weinbaum. “The amount of Tanya learned Ba’al Peh for this project surpassed any other that we’ve done. Yasher Koach to all the children who were involved!”
This year, Phase Two is being launched to encourage children to continue learning Tanya Ba’al Peh in Levi’s memory.
Mendy Rabin, coordinator of Levi’s Torah, says, “We are excited about the launch of this next phase of the inspirational program, and of course the special connection that it has with the upcoming yom tov of Yud Tes-Chof Kislev. We look forward to the nachas ruach this will surely bring to Levi’s neshama and to the Rebbe, his meshaleiach.”
Phase Two of Levi’s Torah includes many new and exciting prizes to be won. In addition, children will receive automatic prizes when they raise a certain amount of money.
So far the response from the schools has been very enthusiastic. Children in their respective schools are encouraged to sign up – stay tuned for your school’s official Levi’s Torah announcement.
