It’s no secret that in recent times Crown Heights has seen too much violent crime. Shootings, muggings, knifepoint hold-ups, assault. The list goes on. It seems that almost every week, a new video is shared displaying a Jewish man being attacked by a stranger.
Such things should have no place in our society, but it is almost impossible to police against random physical attacks. All over social media, people have been expressing their shock at the wave of violence, and there has been much discussion about what can be done.
In an effort to equip the community with measures of protection, Raziel Cohen of NDF Training is holding a Personal & Home Defense Seminar in Crown Heights on Monday, January 28.
Cohen, Head Instructor of NDF Training (and also known as ‘The Tactical Rabbi’), will be teaching residents how to create a defense plan for their homes, and will give them tools to understand and control violent situations.
“By being more situationally aware,” says Cohen, “you can learn to detect early signs of danger, and protect yourself from harm.”
In July 2018, Cohen was one of only seven Californians selected to join a Special Forces training class. The class was led by an active duty Navy SEAL and a member of Australian Special Forces.
Cohen is a certified instructor under the Department of Justice, and has multiple certifications under the NRA.
