The Yeshiva Centre – Chabad Headquarters of NSW, Australia hosted a Farbrengen Thursday for the auspicious day of Yud Tes Kislev.
Over 500 men and women, from many of the synagogues around Sydney participated in the event, which featured a full three course Yomtov meal.
First the Talmidim Hashluchim of the Yeshiva Gedolah made a Yud Tes Kislev Rally for the children, complete with Pesukim, prizes, nosh and a surprise story teller, Rabbi Yakov Lieder.
After Maariv, the formal part of the Farbrengen began, with words from Rabbi Pinchus Feldman, head shliach of Sydney, and Rabbi Yossi Braun, the newly elected third Rov of the Crown Heights Beis Din, who read the Rebbe’s telegram for the 19 Kislev Farbrengens around the world.
Rabbi Mendel Simons, Shliach in Los Angeles, was called up to read the Rebbe’s chapter of Tehilim. Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Feldman, Rosh Yeshiva of the Yeshiva Gedola, Sydney called upon all those present to make Chevrusas – study partner sessions with the new Talmidim Hashluchim.
After seeing a part of a Sicha of the Rebbe from the “Living Torah” series, the guest speaker, Rabbi Chaim Rapoport of London, England spoke.
The farbrengen went on late into the night, with the singing of the Alter Rebbe’s nigun followed by wild dancing.
