THIS CAMPAIGN WILL HELP IN TWO AREAS:
1. Expand Chabad’s growing educational activities and support the steady growth of our camps that serve hundreds of kids throughout Europe. We need YOU to help us get there!
2. Towards the steep legal fees in the legal battle protecting Jewish children’s rights to uncompromised Jewish education
Under the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s directives, Rabbi Alexander and Leah Namdar instituted the first Chabad house in Scandinavia, in Gothenburg Sweden, Establishing Chabad of Sweden in 1991.
Today, there are Chabad centers in the 3 major cities of Sweden and all the Scandinavian capitals.
Chabad Sweden means something unique for each and every individual. For some it’s a home away from home, for others it’s a summer camp, the only time of the year that they have the opportunity to spend with friends. For some it’s a source of spirituality and warmth, for others it is a place they come to learn, to live, to thrive. And to feel at home as a Jew.
Today Chabad of Sweden needs your help.
In 2010 Sweden passed a law that would prohibit homeschooling in the country to the exception of special cases or the child’s specific needs, if not heeded accordingly steep fines were to follow.
Jewish education they argued is not a special case or a specific need they claimed.

#1: Clearly Rabbi Zubar was the very first Chabad présence in Scandinavia, having been sent as a shaliach by the Frierdike Rebbe.
#3: I believe that the daughter of Rabbi Zubar has already been interviewed by JEM. I have seen the video.
The connection is that the facts in the article are not accurate.
The Namdars may have “instituted the first Chabad house in Scandinavia” in RECENT MEMORY, and that, at the request of our Rebbe, the son-in-law of the Frierdike Rebbe, however the first Chabad presence was established originally in 1934.
Nowhere in the article does it say that the Namdars are the first Shluchim. Only that they opened the first Chabad house, which according to your account appears to be accurate. Your father definitely deserves recognition and we should look to the past to better understand the present and future, but again, why here? How does it help the Namdars or your father to distract from the current pressing need? Please write an article on your father’s work in Scandanavia as the Frierdiker Rebbe’s shliach, and also please write a check to the Namdars so they can continue the work… Read more »
In response to Number 3- It saddened me to read in the article that the Namdars claim TO BE THE FIRST SHLUCHIM IN sCANDINAVIA.I WANT THE RECORD TO BE SET STRAIGHT. The activities of the Frierdike Rebbe deserve to be given recognition. The activities of the first Shliach to Scandinavia, Harav Yacov Yisroel Zuber should be recognized by the subsequent Chabad leaders. We build on the past. We remember and recognize our founders. My Father received permission from theSwedish king to allow us not to attend school on Shabbos as in those days schools were open six days a week.… Read more »

In 1932 ,y father harav Yacov Yisroel Zuber was sent by the FRIERDIKE REBBE to Stockholm Sweden where he served the community for eighteen years as the Rav of Adas Yisroel synagogue, as a shochet, a mohel, a Baal Tefillah, a Chazzan, and of course as a Rebbe for the young men who were unable to leave the country during those tumultous years in the Holocaust.
