With blessings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe of righteous memory, The Lubavitch-Chabad Jewish Student Center of Gainesville, FL, was founded 16 years ago, to provide a home away from home to Jewish students and to serve the religious, educational and social needs of students at the University of Florida, Sant Fe College and Alachua county Jewish communities. It is now famously known as The Tabacinic Campus and The Marilyn Kapner Levin Center for Jewish Life and Learning.
The Center opens its arms and hearts to all without a membership requirement and is a place where people from all walks of life, and from any background and affiliation, feel at home.
They are one address where every student can turn to for everything from a homemade bowl of chicken soup Friday night to an educational class or a philosophical discussion during the week. They serve as a home away from home and offer a nonjudgmental, open and friendly beacon of light amidst an array of agendas, counter-cultures, missionaries and isms all vying for the student’s mind.
The Shluchim, Rabbi Berl and Chanie Goldman and their colleagues Rabbi Aharon Chaim and Pessie Notik, have seen an exponential growth in Jewish life on campus since first founded in 2000, and now their center is located in a state of art, beautiful building with synagogue, social hall, kosher cafe, library, mikvah, laundry room, alumni guest wing and more.
For the next 36 hours, they are running a matching funds campaign to support their vital work.
The campaign seeks to raise $300,000 in 36 hours, with the help of donors Ronnie & Rachel Antevy, Fredrick & Shira Garvett, Nedow Family, Avi & Brochie Shaulson, Steven Slutsky, Moshe & Lillian Tabacinic, and Alumni in honor of the Students and Friends in Honor of Rabbi Berl & Chanie.
Our vitality and continued growth is made possible only by the support we receive from alumni, parents, friends and partners like you.
It is thanks to those who selflessly give of themselves to support Jewish life at UF and SFC that we continue as the Heart of Jewish life on Campus and achieve our goals.
Every contribution, both large and small, is vital and welcome. As the Talmud says “Each and every penny adds up to a large amount.” Please donate a tax-deductible contribution today; it will provide the financial assurance to continue our vital work and is a great opportunity to give Tzedakah-Charity and support Jewish Life and Learning at UF, SFC and Alachua County.
