WHY IN THE WORLD DO YOU THINK THE SOLUTION IS MORE SPEED BUMPS? WE HAVE WAY MORE THAN ENOUGH ALREADY… RATHER GET THE LIGHTS SYNCHRONIZED BETTER – AS OF NOW, THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THE LIGHT ON EMPIRE IS TO SPEED… FIX THAT, MANY MIGHT STOP SPEEDING…

IT ALREADY TAKES 30 MIN TO GET TO BORO PARK, MAKING TAKE LONGER WON’T HELP!!!

Its the traffic direction
It’s always dangerous to stand talking to you from on the corner accross the direction if anything happen it crash where you are standing so just cross the street and continue the conversation

Speed bump

put in a few speedbumps for cars driving down Booklyn. Who will contact on of our local politicians for this? Who can set up an internet petition? What a low tech solution to a very big safety hazard!

Street Sign, and speedbump.

Sigh

don't congregate

I Live on that block- know it very well!
Not much can really be done especially in wet weather..
It’s been suggested many times directly to children and adults congregating on that corner just to talk,; do not stand there even in good weather! Dangerous spot and corner. Move more into the block on Crown or down Brooklyn. ,, but don’t stand there. Very dangerous!

common sense

yes, a speedbump on Brooklyn between carroll and crown should help. But why was it important to mention that the man of the corner house was Jewish??? what difference does that make???????

Speedbump between Crown & Carroll

It’s the only thing that will help. That plus a Mezuzah on the gate (if it’s still standing.)

#3 is wrong.

Do you think hashem was punishing them for driving a German car? Would the Rebbe make such a statement after an accident? I believe the Rebbe once was critical of a Rabbi who blamed a tragedy on not keeping shabbos or eating trief. In addition, there is no evidence that cars hitting that wall have been disproportionately German.

some things never change

When I lived there 32 years ago, it was also the site of many accidents. There was a bad accident there that caused a car to go up in flames. My friends and I were supposed to crossing just then, but a broken dress zipper held us up for a few seconds. What a miracle.

Poles
May 9, 2012 2:21 pm

I agree with #4 PUT THE POLES ON THE SIDEWALK and maybe have them painted florecent yellow

FYI

In years gone by that was the house & shul of the previous Skulener Rebbe zt”l

Move the poles

How about moving the metal poles to the edge of the sidewalk instead of just to protect the guys wall?

idea

put a SPPEDBUMP so large that one would need walking shoes and a bottle of water to prevent dehydration to walk over it.

German products
May 9, 2012 12:47 pm

I hope the driver wasn’t hurt and wish her a refuah shleima if she was! Perhaps now would be a good time to re-evaluate the custom to blithely use German products especially VW – laden with the Nazis fingerprints.

bus stop

yesterday at around 5.30pm a jeep driving westbound on eastern parkway had a red light the driver attempted to stop but the car skid & went right through the light at kingston.luckily no cars were coming up kingston at that time, the driver was able to bring the jeep under control but was unable to stop without skidding through the intersection.people need to drive slower & be more careful on wet or slippery grounds.
