Store owners in New York are joining the worldwide celebrations over the early release of Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin from his harsh jail sentence.
Glatt A La Carte, an upscale kosher restaurant in Brooklyn, NY, with a varied menu of global fusion items, including steaks and sushi, expressed its joy in an announcement on its Instagram page.
“We’re so psyched and excited with the amazing news of the Nes that has happened today to Klal Yisroel with the release of Shalom Mordechai Rubashkin,” they wrote.
“We’re celebrating tonight at Glatt A La Carte!” they said, offering a “free glass of wine or smoothie with every entree ordered tonight! L’chaim!”
Chocolatte Café in Crown Heights say they will offer free coffee tomorrow all day in honor of the great celebration.
Pescada New York, a kosher gourmet dairy restaurant at 1776 Ocean Avenue in New York announced it will be doing the same.
“Free glass of wine in honor of the release of Reb Shomo Rubashkin,” they wrote. “Valid at both, Meat and Dairy, locations this thursday night only. #rubashkin.”
Joyous dancing over the news has been taking place in synagogues, Yeshivos around the United States and the world.
Another store, Eber’s Liquor & Wine located on Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights, has been handing out free shots of vodka to passersby to celebrate the release of Rubashkin.

We woke up to this ness gadol, so tonight my husband & I are having a little l’chaim to celebrate, & hopefully learn something in SMR’s zchus. It is just so wonderful, even my non-frum family were excited!
