Lag B’Omer, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai’s yahrzeit which falls on a Sunday this year, will be celebrated with a large event on Brooklyn’s main thoroughfare Eastern Parkway.
It will feature the innovation and musical twist of some of the greatest jewish entertainers and singers – Mordechai Ben David, Avraham Fried, Lipa Schmeltzer, and Uncle Moishe.
Organizers from Tzivos Hashem and NCFJE are said to expect a crowd of tens of thousands.
The May 2, 2010 celebration, instituted by the Rebbe, will begin 10:15 AM with a rally and concert at Eastern Parkway, between Kingston Avenue and Brooklyn Avenue.
After the rally, at 11:30 AM, the central parade will pass by Lubavitch Headquarters 770 Eastern Parkway, in the grand tradition of a Lag Baomer Parade.
It will be composed of all the classic favorites including marching bands, military parades as well as the stars of the show – the Jewish boys and girls.
The parade will be followed by a family fair with rides and games on Kingston Avenue and Rutland Road.
Two Uncle Moshe Concerts will be held at the George Wingate High School Auditorium.
