Some 400 men and women, parents of Crown Heights children, attended a Chinuch and Parenting Seminar Wednesday evening.
The lecture was delivered by the renowned educator and acclaimed behavioral therapist, Rabbi Yakov Sputz who serves as a consultant to many Yeshivos and teacher-training programs in the greater New York area.
Chaired by Rabbi Yossi Simpson, principal of Lubavitcher Yeshiva, the seminar provided building blocks for effective parenting methods.
It was coordinated by Igud Menahalei Yeshivos and dedicated to the memory of the longtime Mechanech Rabbi Isaac Mintz OBM on the occasion of his 17th Yahrtzeit.
400? looks like 40, 10 of who were the organizers.
too bad, tho, as it seems an honest effort.
Looks like you where paying attention 🙂
My wife and some of her friends went; I heard Rabbi Sputz was fantastic! Hazak! Love those kids! (One thing I remember about bringing up my, BA”H, 6 children was that at every opportunity I could find I would hug and kiss them. Partly, this is due to my baal teshuva past. I realized how miraculous it was that I even was ‘frum’ had married an observant woman and had children! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think such a thing would happen to me!) So, parents, remember every child is DEFINITELY above nature (Like yourselves) and MIRACULOUS!… Read more »
I heard that he astounded everyone that was there, it was really worth it for everyone who went. We need someone like this that really cares about the children. They’re our otzar!
There has to be hands on every day.
You have to do the homework with your children every day soy they know their material Starting with Aleph Bais, Davenning chumash mishnayos Gemoro and etc… There is nothin to boost the child’s confidence as knowing the material in class and scoring high marks on the tests.
There is a Hayom Yom that just like there is a mitzvah of putting on tefilin each day same is true about thinking about your child everyday.
it’s not real it’s A show the point is to do a show not to help the Talmidim. every one got there number
Wives must get their husbands to go woth them. I know it’s not easy but fathers are just as important as the mothers!! Bottom line…it’s for the future of our children!
We are on shlichus out of ch and we came in for this, it was well worth the trip.
as i was present i can say that it was not a small crowd as a matter of fact in middle they brought more chairs to the womans side!! it was a great lecture and i suggest that next year every parent of crown heights should attend! this is a great way to keep R’ isaac Mintzs OBM memory alive a great yasher koach to all those who made the event happen!
I have those priorities too- but it is because of my “diamonds” and the family that I love that I went to this class. And my diamonds are already reaping the benefits. Its like going to PTA- you are going to go- if you care about and have interest in how your child is doing. If they make a make-up session I will encourage EVERY parent I know to go.
i have priorities putting my diamonds to sleep saying shema with them giving my husband attention having an early night 2 be a good mother how do people swing it to go out in the evenings?
they should make this available for anash who are out of town and would like to attend or anash living elsewhere.
a video should be uploaded with the whole conference.
Thank you to those who care.
but, it looks like this rabbi had some good ideas, based on the powerpoint you can see in the pics, and his body language.
How wonderful to have such a program delivered by someone who looks the part of a Mechanech.
So sorry and sad I missed it. Had an unrescheduable previous famiy obligation.
Please make a ‘Pesah Sheni’ possible for us…audio, or visual. Thank you very much.
