Large crowds Davened on Yom Kippur at the Marina Roshcha Synagogue in central Moscow, headed by Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar.
Beginning with the “Kol Nidrei” prayer, the main synagogue hall was full of hundreds of excited worshipers while at the same time – due to the current pandemic – dozens of Yom Kippur minyanim were organized by the Gabayim, in all educational and charitable institutions in the Moscow neighborhood, as well as 30 Chabad houses throughout Moscow held Holy Day prayers outdoors for the benefit of tens of thousands of Moscow Jews.
The climax of the day was at the Neilah prayer, after the words of hisorerus from the chief rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar, and the cry of ‘Shema Yisrael’ at the end of the emotional prayer, with the Chazan R’ David Caytak.
Then, the crowd burst into a spirited “Napoleon’s March” led by Rabbi Lazar, which went on for a long time.
At the end of the evening prayer and havdalah, the public was invited to refreshments and the holiday meal in the various halls of the great building.
