Chabad Shluchim gathered in Coconut Creek, Florida, for the annual Southern Regional Kinus which included Shluchim from Texas, New Orleans, South Carolina and Florida.
Hosting Shliach Rabbi Yossi Gansburg organized the day-long event which was hosted in his new state-of-the-art K-12 South Florida Jewish Academy, catering to students with special needs.
Rabbi Gansburg also invited the renowned speaker Dr. David Nesenoff, who has been traveling to Chabad centers and Jewish communities around the world, to address a standing room only crowd about the art of speaking.
Nesenoff explained, in his signature style humorous way, how to use speaking techniques to motivate audiences to take on more mitzvos and how to motivate listeners to financially contribute to Shluchim’s worthy causes.
“He did a great job! Very positive attitude and taught great pointers about constructing a speech and delivery,” Palm Beach Island Shaliach Rabbi Zalman Levitin said. “Nesenoff was the star of the day!”
Since exposing the anti-Semitic views of veteran journalist Helen Thomas, Nesenoff has been speaking to communities and urging them to fight anti-Jewish behavior by increasing their Jewish involvement and commitment, as has happened to him.
“I was thrilled to be able to share some very powerful secrets of successful speech motivation with my heroes, the Shluchim,” Nesenoff explained to COLlive.com about his first such practical advice he has given to Shluchim.
“I won’t go into detail what was said, but I know the Shluchim in the Southern region are leaving this Kinus and returning to their communities well armed and rejuvenated.”
The Kinus concluded in the evening with a formal dinner where Nesenoff again addressed the Shluchim. He told of his experiences traveling to over 500 Chabad centers in the world and what stood out most in his mind.
He recalled a story about the beautiful children of Shluchim Rabbi Zvi and Chanie Backman of Tufts University Chabad in Massachusetts. Additionally, a most unique incident was revealed which he heard from Shliach Rabbi Avrohom Kievman of Liverpool, England.
Rabbi Yossie Biston, Executive Director of Chabad of North Broward and Palm Beach County, enthusiastically approached Nesenoff and expressed great interest in him speaking to a larger community of Shluchim.
Dr. Nesenoff said he is determined to continue what he calls his “personal Shlichus for the Rebbe” and will be on a lecture tour again this coming year. For more info, visit davidinspires.com
