24 years ago in the Summer of 1990, 8 month old Mendel joined his parents, Rabbi Moishe and Miriam Moskovitz as one of the first family of shluchim to the Soviet Union after the fall of communism.
They moved to Kharkov, which was then the Soviet Union, as shluchim of the Rebbe to a city that had just got back its shul from the government.
Now Rabbi Mendel Moskovitz is returning on shlichus, with his wife Chani (nee Wolff) and 3 month old baby, Chaya Mushka.
The young Moskovitz family will be joining the Kharkov shluchim in a very difficult time in Ukraine. With war and bombings only a few hours away and an economic collapse in Ukraine – their arrival will bring a boost to the many mosdos of the Kharkov Jewish community.
