Sidney Stern, a survivor of the camps, a founder of Young Israel of Forest Hills, who davened during the High Holidays at Hadar HaTorah in Crown Heights, passed away on Friday, 3 Elul, 5777.
He was 93.
Mr. Stern was born in Sighet, Romania. Before the war the Viznitz and Kosov Rebbes were regular guests in his parents’ home where they held yichidus and led tisch.
He is survived by his children, Mordechai Stern and Chasida Julie Mortner, grandchildren Sarah Ives, Shulamit Mortner, and Jared and Andrew Stern and his great-grand child Chaya Mushka Ives.
The levaya took place Friday.
Shiva is taking place in Crown Heights at 1635 President Street: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 to 11:00 p.m.
Mincha 7:20 p.m. and Maariv 8:05 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.
