Just a few hours ago, Dallas, Texas Child Protective Services officially dropped the case and returned the Edery children home to their parents’ care. This is an incredible victory that belongs to everyone, the thousands, who were involved.
It all began on July 3, 2021, two-month-old, Mickey Edery suddenly went limp at home. His parents rushed him to the hospital where they found a minor brain bleed. Unfortunately, the hospital misdiagnosed the infant with a fracture and retinal bleed. These misdiagnoses were only caught the following day. In the meantime, abuse was suspected, and CPS removed all three Edery children from their home even though the Ederys have clean records and their other two children have no signs of abuse.
Even after the misdiagnosis was discovered the following day, Dallas CPS refused to rectify the actions they took, despite the basis for them having been withdrawn.
All along, the Ederys were treated very unfairly. CPS ignored procedures and disrespected the Edery family’s religious observance and trampled on the religious rights of the children all while causing immense emotional harm to the children and their parents.
For example, by law, CPS is initially supposed to give the parents a chance to place their children with a friend temporarily. When the parents quickly identified a family friend who would take the kids, CPS simply ignored them, seized the three kids (all of whom are under age three) and placed them in foster care.
Once kids are in the system it is almost impossible to get them out. But thanks to the incredible support from people across the world, the Edery’s were able to marshal legal, medical and political resources to right this wrong and get their kids back, but still taking the better part of a year.
Tonight the Edery children are reunited with their parents and everyone is overjoyed.
However, there is still work to do. Legal and medical bills remain. There are also bad actors, including government employees, who need to be held accountable so they can’t do this to another family who may not have the same incredible community to help them fight back. So we will be keeping the campaign at www.charidy.com/reunite open and promise to keep everyone updated.
For tonight though, this victory belongs to all of us. Savor it. Thank you.
Baruch Hashem!! May this sweet family be blessed with much happiness for many many years
Amazing news
Open miracles. continued Besuros Tovos. hug those babies tight tonight
Baruch Hashem, may we only share good news going forward!
To prevent this happening again.
We are terribly sorry for what the family had to go through
So thankful the children are home!!!
Defund CPS (white liberals with sociology degrees)
I’m THRILLED for the outcome, but flak about trauma 😭 the poor family!!
It’s important for us to learn about the potential dangers of getting the Government run Family and Child Services involved.
Schools:
Please train your well – meaning teachers to never ever contact family and child services before they first speak to the parents and hear their side of the story.
While most teachers want to protect the children and have altruistic motives, the damage that can be done by Family and child services is huge!
Please Use common sense.

They are usually not the better alternative! In many cases I’ve seen that are brought to cps, families just need some support, financial, etc!
crazy – but not first time doctors or phycologist badly call child protective services
Cant handle what this poor family must have gone through. My heart breaks for their pain. Absolutely relieved that they are reunited once again. We need moshiach!!
The only reason I can fathom for CPS not to have followed prescribed protocol (allowing the children to be placed with friends of the family until the emergency situation could be properly investigated) is that they, CPS, may have experienced another case where the family friends chosen were not responsible people and they genuinely wanted to get these kinderlach settled with responsible people ASAP. Otherwise, what they did makes absolutely no sense and they couldn’t possibly have hoped to get away with it. So glad it ended well, Baruch Hashem. I hope the children are too young to remember this… Read more »
The children did suffer emotionally from this, and if it will leave a permanent scar remains to be seen
CPS routinely kidnaps children legally! Happened to me. Please never call them unless you want the kids removed, cv”s, and you’re SURE there is true abuse. Good intentions have destroyed many families. Happy for the Edery children, but they have a lot of trauma to deal with now still.
It all began on July 3…His parents rushed him to the hospital During holiday times like July 4th December 25th January 1st etc. You should never take your kid to the hospital instead take them to a doctor/friend (rosen etc.) The long time doctors are on vacation (especially this year when July 3rd was on a shabbos and holiday weekend just started) and the new doctors who are still getting used to the job have no experience and if they suspect abuse (which they often do since they’re still new to the job) and there’s no more experienced doctor’s there… Read more »
Even assuming the misdiagnosis was correct, that child had a fracture, that alone does not indicate abuse. Not every fracture was caused by an irate parent. Fractures can happen if a child falls. The fact that it took seven months to have these children returned is a crime. These parents did absolutely nothing to deserve this. The children didn’t deserve it. Cps should be dismantled and taught to respect parents. To assume people are innocent of wrongdoing until the facts compel a contrary conclusion. This problem will recur until government acknowledges the issues with cps all over the country. All… Read more »
