Itchke’s Shtiebel and Congregation Ahavas Moische in Crown Heights held a Kumzits – Melava Malka this past Motzoei Shabbos Parshas Tazria (March 10, 2016) with the theme of Hakhel and unity.
The evening had an electric energy coming both from the majestic lights and the wonderful music, provided by Rabbi Chaim Fogelman and Chizki Sofer from Israel.
A full complement of attendees, both men and woman, came together in true friendship, with Ahavah and achdus. The crowd enjoyed delicious food arranged by Yitzy Siver who continuously gives of himself to the shul throughout the year.
Heartfelt appreciation was expressed to Eli Blachman and Congregation Ahavas Moische for hosting Itchke’s Shtiebel. He was presented with a large leather-bound Hayom yom by the members of Itchke’s Shtiebel.
They praised him for working tirelessly to strengthen both the physical and spiritual aspects of the Shul, and to insure that it continues to grow as a Makom Kodesh.
The highlight of the evening was when Rabbi Fogelman was presented with a beautiful silver Kos Sel Eliyahu for serving as the spiritual leader of the shul, giving shiurim, farbrainging and inspiring everyone who walks through the shul doors.
Yitzy Silver spelled out the tremendous dedication that each of these men has shown – both recently – and in the case of Eli Blachman, for decades, to build, strengthen and maintain the shul.
Besides his wonderful renditions of Chassidic melodies, Chizki Sofer told a “Baal Shemske” story that personally happened to him; of how by mentioning the Rebbe’s name to the American consul in Tel Aviv, and stating that his intention in going to America was to go to the Rebbe to ask for a brachah for a shidduch, Chizki was granted a 10 visa to come to the United States.
Anyone who wants to experience true Ahavas Yisroel, Achdus, enlightening shiurm and insight should come to Itchke’s Shtiebel for Shabbosim and the weekday learning activities. And be sure to put on your calendar to attend next-year’s Melava Malka.
