A Shame We Lost The Old Vaad
June 16, 2010 3:41 pm

“who are responsible for the big positive change in bringing sholom to the community.”

I totally agree with #120. look at the Poll, it says “Disappointed 73%”

But I believe that Zaki will Continue the growth in our comunity, and I give him my full suport!

Who said I feel terrible? I don’t live in Crown Heights….. All I said was that the community is not very smart as they slapp the face of those who are responsible for the big positive change in bringing sholom to the community. “Chachmey Chelem” this community lol

June 15, 2010 1:19 am

NOW, (after the never-ending tzoros R”L,) it’s time for everyone, (including & especially both polar opposite philosphies: Tzfas, Detroit etc….) to simply disagree RESPECTFULY.
Achdus WILL finally bring Moshiach!

Let’s all make this Hachlota on THIS Gimel Tamuz!!!

Go Zaki!!!

the group of chanina, poltorak, cadaner forced themselves on the community with a “Zroah Chazakah” wwe dont care if they turned over crown heights or the many hundred of “chesed”projects they may have done. the main thing now is that it was a completely fair election in every way and the kohol was allowed their TRUE voice

Sorry that you feel so terrible about that

B"H ZAKI TAMIR IS THE BEST CANDIDATE-NOW VAAD HAKAHAL HEAD

June 14, 2010 7:13 pm

Mazel Tov Mr Tamir.
Let us hope that experienced Rabbonim will place their names on the ballot for the third position.
I must say I am worried that serious candidates will not want to be part of a divided Beis Din.
Especially after the CHJCC/Vaad poll we will need a strong indepedent third Rov

clarity
June 14, 2010 6:17 pm

We have heard numerous times from the exiting temporary vaad that the psak din vindicated their election. If you read the psak din it says that their election was questionable and explains that they were left as an acting vaad because it was a more practical decision
I do hope the new vaad will quickly be able to find somewhere for Rabbi Segal to sit. It shouldn’t have taken 2 months

OK cool

Mazal Tov! Mazal Tov To Zaki Yitzchak Tamir and To the Rebbe’s Schuna!

the people chose to have someone with vast experience in various areas, though it may not be age, to assist our troubled state of affairs.

Please, lets put our differences aside and support him and our community as a whole to work with him and enhance the place we love so much.

Bracha V’Hatzlacha, Zaki.

Difference between Tamir & Malamud
June 14, 2010 2:14 pm

Not saying it’s right or wrong, just pointing out a difference:

When Malamud was elected he was already very well known (and I’ll assume by the fact he was elected, respected)

With Tamir, nobody knows anything about him, he’s just some guy without a full beard.

wow
June 14, 2010 1:58 pm

sam malamud didnt & still doesnt have a beard, and was and is considered a great figure of CH for many ppl
while rabbi osdoba lost in din torah, he won in the biggest ever attended election in CH
shows that rabbi osdoba is the true rov of the shcuna

Who R U kidding?
June 14, 2010 1:45 pm

What has Zaki or Hackner ever done 4 CHts? This is a proving ground 4 them, but what about the Shecuna? They will be cutting their teeth at the community’s expense. This is a BIG loss 4 the community, not a win. Sorry, just call me older but wiser.

yay zaki…we’re so proud of you!

The crown heights community is alive and well!!!
June 14, 2010 1:24 pm

The people have spoken- We want someone who is not a bal machlokes but a doer!
So what if he has a trimmed beard- did we vote him in for mashpia??? No he was voted in to get funding for our community and keep us safe.
This is wake up call to all who have written off crown heights- we have proven that we are a community who wants peace and when given the chance through an election we will come through..

Hey, anyone remember the old slogan...
June 14, 2010 1:12 pm

Never trust anyone over 30? Welcome, the sixties Hippie days are back! Youth rules, see what a great job our young cool Pres is doing ruining America, let’s see what the kids do running CH. Maybe someone who has some life experience knows something? Nah!

Now let's see REAL change

I’m sorry but you are exactly wrong, we need new blood, We aren’t talking about a 18 year old kid, in his early 30’s, married with children, he’s no dummy. Maybe some fresh approaches and new faces will shake things up in crown heights and break the failed past attempts at moving forward.

the lecture in this election is very clear
ppl voted against certain candidates
it is clear that we need NEW ppl, not ppl running after power
I would like to suggets that we should elect the candidates, instead that the candidates elect themselves
I would suggest someone like Simon Warenker to be a candidate for the vaad

June 14, 2010 11:54 am

A true mensch and example of what a real Chassid is.
I wish him that the abershter in conjuction with the
Rebbe’s guidance will lead him on the path to this community’s most deserved potential.
He will do well for this Shchunah.

#90 made mistake
June 14, 2010 11:51 am

Meant to say, people voted for an INexperienced president. BTW, I, too believe that Zaki was likable so he was an add on to alot of votes, no one intending for him to end up #1. Let’s admit the voting needs reform. And who is Mr. Hackner, what has he done in his young life? The Rebbe’s shechuna should not be used as a sand box training ground for eager young people looking to make a reputation. This is not a good result, we lost some irreplacable people yesterday, our loss!

June 14, 2010 11:20 am

Dear #86, People hated Bush, voted for an experienced Pres with questionable ties, now we are talking depression and new Holocaust, G-d forbid, get it?

all for beards, but....
June 14, 2010 11:16 am

I do believe in the importance of the beard. But, of what purpose is a beard, when it is merely a mask on someone? A beard has no value when the person behind it fights, cheats, steals.. or whatever it is wrong they are doing.

Shame
June 14, 2010 11:16 am

Tamir got in because he was 5th, 6th, 7th choice on most of the ballots. The next in seniority will be even less known Hackner, cause as many pointed out, ppl will either vote for Hecht or Brownstein and Hackner will be second on everyones ballot.

Clearity
June 14, 2010 10:50 am

This article and the one about the gabbayim winners were not written clearly. If you didnt know how many vaad hakol ppl were being elected you wouldnt understand y there is being a run off. Also this whole 50% thing was unclear. And for the Gabbayim my brain was twirling in circles. I understand who one buy what abt Lipskeir i dont get whats with him it didnt explain it clearly.

June 14, 2010 10:46 am

this is the most funniest paragraph:
Tired and sweaty, the 16 volunteers who are counting turned to Shimon Goldberg, an educator in Oholei Torah hired by Rosenberg to keep order and quiet in the room, asking him for drinks “or at least sushi” (They got neither).

to #80 from # 70
June 14, 2010 10:36 am

your theory although a good one does not represent reality. The bottom line is that there will have to be a run off and the bottom line is that Hackner just has to keep his mouth shut, stay out of the way for a few weeks and he is in. The only one that can beet him is himself. So my advice to Hackner, and I know him since he was little (so it might be hard for him to do) keep quite and you win.

By your logic Hecht and Brownstein should be in since those who voted for Hecht didn’t vote for Brownstein and vice versa. Therefore, combined they represent all members of the community and with Zaki as the “Independent” perhaps they can lead our community forward.

The next Choice is....
June 14, 2010 10:00 am

Hecht = Experience + connections, but troubling integrity
Hackner = Integrity, but little experience and no connections.
Brownstein = Integrity + Experience, with limited connections (whatever one year on the Vaad will get you).

By experience I mean life experience not Vaad Hakahal experience.

SO WHO’S YOUR CHOICE?

why can't woman vote???
June 14, 2010 8:50 am

I believe that this community should be run fully transparent and with full rights to woman and to anyone older than 21 or 22 years old whether they are married or not. Zaki Tamir, Shea Hecht, fishel Brownstein and Yossi Hackner will make a great team for the Vaad hakohal.

Achdus ACHDUS ACHDUS!!!
June 14, 2010 8:41 am

PLEASE! With more bad news yesterday, we need to strengthen our Achdus…and it can start small, like talking nicely to each other! !
Moshiach is literally at the threshold, let’s just be patient with each other – and treat everyone like we care. Maybe it will start to grow on us – and we will!
Let’s just get Moshiach here already!
Yasher Koach everyone!!!
P.S. I, for one, enjoy seeing all the leinge payos in 770! very Moshiachdik!
And maybe with Ahavas Yisroel, the beard will grow in…he is a very fine person, from an exceptional family!

June 14, 2010 8:33 am

The Rebbe’s Shcuna has spoken loud and clear: Poltrak and Sperlin and company are NOT acceptable to us at all!

#28
June 14, 2010 8:29 am

I’m not sure if you are that insecure with yourself, or are you just joking. I chose my role models I don’t have other people chose them for me, and even if I would, it defiantly wouldn’t be the Va’ad Hakohol. Poltrak, Sperlin, Rubashkin, they are perfect role models, right? These people are neither role models nor leaders, they are our servants. If you were hiring someone to do a job for you, you wouldn’t choose someone to be your role model; you’d choose some who can get it done.

June 14, 2010 7:23 am

I like him and I wanted him to win amoungst others. I guess after the runoff he will be one of three and that will be good. For the time being it does not speak well that the most qualified person does not have a beard. (I worded that carefully to distinguish that I am not judging him only the community. ).

By the way he is a Talmud of Detroit ( which gives him inteesting perspective) and a brother in law to the liozner( I am not sire what that brings)

the system has failed
June 14, 2010 7:21 am

THATS WHY WE SHOULD NOT VOTE FOR A PERSON BUT FOR A PARTY. OBVIOUSLY THE NEW YOUNG ONES AS A GROUP GOT MORE VOTES THEN THE OLD AND CURRENT VADD AS A GROUP WE SHOULD NOT VOTE PER PERSON BUT PER PARTY. I HOPE IN THE FUTURE THIS IS CHANGED

June 14, 2010 6:23 am

#46, you are a genius. What we should do is all vote for the person with the biggest beard so that we can be under funded, and neglected. Let’s not forget what else it says in the Torah. A- Do not steal B- do not cheat. Wait, what does it say about mosering on someone?? Point being, “Derech erets kodma latorah!!” One can have a beard and be 100 times worse when it comes to religion…What we need now is someone that can help this community grow and get us the Funding and Security we deserve.

Please just do it.

Ashamed & Embarassed
June 14, 2010 5:36 am

As a Crown Heights resident I am ashamed and embarassed by the elections. The fact that our new “Rosh Hakahal” is a plucked chicked is a BUSHA VECHERPA to a community that “claims” to be Lubavitch-oriented. The Rebbeim were strict about Tzeilem Elokim and the Frierdiker Rebbe wrote that someone who touches his beard shall not cross the threshold of Lubavitch! But here in Crown Heights the most capable ones are the plucked chickens. Nebach. (Disclaimer: I voted for Tamir because he is the most capable and thats the sad part…)

That is absurd, in presidential and congressional election many time there are more than two candidates and the candidates are running against each other. Over here each candidate is running independently against the 50% mark. So if you are going to make comparisons you should try to make sure that they are at least similar cases.
