A fundraiser barbeque was held Sunday for John Sampson, New York State Senate Majority Conference Leader who represents District 19 which comprises Crown Heights, East Flatbush and other neighborhoods.
It was held at the law offices of Eli Poltorak, member of the Crown Heights Vaad Hakohol and a candidate for reelection, on Eastern Parkway.
Poltorak and his wife invited fellow candidates to attend. Some showed up.
At the event, Sampson was praised for his constant support of the Jewish community.
Chanina Sperlin, Vice Chairman of Vaad Hakohol who is up for reelection as well, related about his trip to Israel a few years back, where he met Senator Sampson on a support mission to Gush Katif.
Also in attendance were Rabbi David Niederman, director of the United Jewish Organizations in Williamsburg, and Mica Soffer, Director of COLlive.com.
The Senator pointed out that he was aiming to learn more about the needs of the communities and groups in his constituency.
