Despite the torrential rain and freezing cold weather, over 1,000 men, women and children from every section of the Jewish community from all over the UK and beyond, assembled and lined the streets of Stamford Hill, outside the headquarters of Lubavitch Foundation to participate in a Lag B’Omer Parade.
The event was organized by Rabbi and Mrs. Yossi Simon of Tzivos Hashem.
Boys and girls from different communities around the country led the recitation of the 12 Torah Pesukim & Maamorei Chazal, especially chosen by the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Rabbi ND Dubov from Chabad of S. London was the MC for the event, explaining the significance of Lag B’Omer and the power of Achdus. The Guest Speaker was Rabbi Odom Brandman from Chabad of Buckhurst Hill, who spoke about Jewish pride with a story of the Baal Shem Tov.
Tehillim, Kappital Chof was recited word for word in the zechus of all those who need a refuah shelaima and Yeshua.
On the podium were many Rabbis and dignitaries including several MP’s & Cllrs & from Hackney & Harringey.
The parade itself was then led by a 25 piece marching band and many innovative floats depicting the message of Lag B’Omer. Hundreds of children holding flags and posters displaying Torah messages marched in a procession to Springfield Park where a giant funfair had been arranged.
Attractions like go karts, dodgems and a petting zoo, hot food and hot drinks were just some of the highlights of the cold afternoon. It was a day that will live for a long time in the memories of the happy children and parents who were there.
“The message of the day was clear, Yidden are above nature, the Jewish pride was amazing – even in the rain!” said Rabbi Simon.
