Both communal groups in Crown Heights that have accepted the ruling of a special Din Torah in their case have submitted the names of their representatives for the election committee.
Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba and his supporters have chosen Moishe Haber, Noochi Gross and Yosel Reizes. UPDATE Friday, April 23: Yitzi Silver replaced Reizes on the election committee.
While Rabbi Yaacov Schwei and his supporters have picked Sruli Sandhaus, Yisroel Best and Yitzchak Holtzman.
This committee of 6 people will be supervising this year’s elections to add a third rabbi to the neighborhood’s Bais Din and a new board for the Vaad Hakohol – Crown Heights Jewish Community Council and Gabboim for 770’s main Shul.
In private conversations with COLlive.com, individuals from both groups expressed their satisfaction with the psak by a group of dayanim headed by Rabbi Avrohom Binyomin Rosenberg of Monsey, NY.
“I wouldn’t necessarily sign on it, but I must say – they were fair and left everyone with something,” a person associated with Rabbi Osdoba said.
Members of the current Vaad Hakohol have written a public letter, saying: “This finally concludes the machlokes that has plagued our community over the past several years and sets forth a robust framework for a peaceful future.”
They added: “We call upon all concerned parties to do likewise and work together to conduct the upcoming elections in a spirit of harmony and mutual respect.”
The following is the election timeline as COLlive has understood from the psak:
Friday, Sivan 1, 5770: Last day to submit candidacy for Vaad Hakohol. Within a week, the candidates list, ballot location and times must be made available to the public.
Sunday, Tammuz 1, 5770: Elections should be held for members of the executive committee of the Vaad Hakohol and Gabboim of 770.
Friday, Av 26, 5770: Last day to submit candidacy for the third member of Badatz Crown Heights. Within a week, the candidates list, ballot location and times must be made available to the public.
Sunday, Elul 26, 5770: Elections should be held to add the third rabbi.
While Rabbi Rosenberg promised to be in the area as things progress, some issues remain to be solved only after the elections.
First is the reorganization of the Netzigim – group of representatives of the Crown Heights shuls who are meant to supervise the elections process. A freeze has been put on the group after it split into two, making it irrelevant for the current peace making.
Second is hiring a new CEO for the CHK – Crown Heights Kosher supervision which has been operating without a manager since Yossi Bruk‘s resignation.

As of last night, the date for submission of signed petitions has been changed to Thursday, 29 Iyar at 7PM so that we can announce the candidates by that shabbos, 2Sivan and begin the challenge period.
go ask who ever told you this for evidence that the Rebbe was against it. Do you know that elections for gabboim took place and the Rebbe did not stop them? Do you know that the Rebbe answered Niskabel and Azkir Al Hatziun on the protocols informing the gabboyims elections?

Very happy to hear the good news, and hope this
‘psak’ brings ‘achdus.’
To me a signature should be legible. Let those on the ‘Vaad Hakohol’ take notice. (If it weren’t for the typed names underneath, many wouldn’t know who signed.) Clear writing, like ‘safa brura’, is an exercise in ‘bittul.’ One’s interest is to communicate to the other, not make them guess and struggle.
Will each member of the Vaad that just got elected re-run for election again? Has anyone from the current board expressed an interest NOT to run for election again?
Give peace a chance!
arent the daboim of 770 not supposed to be elected acording to th erebbe?
You wrote the year with the date… so nice… Yeah baby!
5770!!!!
YEAH!!!
he only possible way of getting out of the machlokos is that none of the past people can run
same old people. it will take one argument and we will be back to square 1
golowinsky and rapps.

B”h it will finally be peaceful in CH. I am a shliach, but CH is where the Chayos comes from, and I am sure the inspiration will trickle down. Thank you everyone for adhering to the resolution!
