Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon has been busy recently, highlighting Europe’s fight against antisemitism and the Hamas terror rockets towards Tel Aviv.
This week, he had a chance to celebrate over some good news.
In a historic move, President Donald Trump announced a major change in US policy to recognize Israel’s ownership over the Golan Heights, a strategic area which Israel had seized in the Six-Day War in 1967.
The move was received with a warm response from Israeli leaders and residents who were in the midst of celebrating Purim, marking the salvation from annihilation from ancient Persia – modern-day Iran.
“We are at the beginning of a historic moment for the State of Israel,” Danon wrote on Twitter. He said President Trump “once again proves the strength of the US-Israel relationship, & that the Golan Heights is an inseparable part of Israel. Thank you, America! Thank you, President Trump!”
The Ambassador celebrated the news at a private Purim celebration with Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Vice Chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch and other guests at a home in Crown Heights.
Truly a privilege to host the Hon. Danny Dannon Israeli ambassador to the UN and his family the same day our president recognized sovereignty of the Golan Heights!” his son Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Director of Merkos Suite 302, wrote on social media.
