The Tri-State is preparing for a wet Purim this year, with a drenching storm expected to soak New York City with up to a third of an inch of rain Thursday.
The Weather Channel reports Spring’s arrival “will be a rude one in the Northeast” due to the storm, which will be accompanied by wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
The good news though is that temperatures will be warm enough that snow is not a threat. Overnight lows will hover around 43.
By Thursday morning, the storm system will begin to move up the coast and bring heavy rain to the Mid-Atlantic and Washington, D.C.
The heaviest rain will reach New York City in the afternoon, while it arrives in Boston in the evening.
Rain will impact the New York area starting overnight Wednesday into Thursday, beginning at 7:00 am, and is forecast to continue throughout the day until 2:00 am.
More than 1 inch of rain is expected for the Northeast.
Behind the storm, very strong and even damaging winds are possible on Friday for most of the Northeast.
