The first leg of Yad L’Achim’s 2019 Achmed Ben Sara Tour recently completed 14 successful events across the state of Florida.
The “Achmed ben Sara” speaking tour features firsthand accounts of women rescued from Arab communities by Yad L’Achim, was met with the gripped attention and sympathy of audiences in 14 cities throughout Florida.
Yad L’Achim and the speaker also met with philanthropists and Jewish community leaders to speak about the organization’s dangerous, life saving rescues of Jewish women and their children from abusive homes in Palestinian territories. The organization handled 592 such cases in 2018 alone.
“We’re very pleased with how the tour kicked off,” said Yossi Eliav, Director of Special Projects and organizer of the events for Yad L’Achim. “We’re expecting to dramatically increase the number of events as we expand the tour to Los Angeles and New York. We’ve seen a lot of siyata deshmaya, and community support. It’s been very encouraging and we are now filling up dates for LA and across the US.”
The Achmed ben Sarah tour is traveling to every major US city to showcase the plight of these women and children, and to support their rescue. It is the rare chance to hear from a special woman live as she tells her life story and answers questions after her talk. Videos of actual rescues are shown at all events, as well.
Yad L’Achim, founded in the 1950s, has rescued thousands of these imprisoned women and their children. The operations are conducted with the utmost secrecy, as the lives of the women, their children and all operatives are at high risk.
Once free, Yad L’Achim provides safe shelter for these women and their children, and supports their re-integration into society. The number of Jewish women and children trapped in these conditions today numbers in the thousands.
