Halberstam’s Yartzeit in Congress

Congresswoman Yvette Clarke spoke about Ari Halberstam on the House floor to mark his yartzeit, and called to confront anti-Semitism.

By COLlive reporter

During the week of the Yartzeit of Ari Halberstam, NY Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke spoke on the House floor in his honor.

Ari was murdered at 16 years old in a terror attack in 1994 on the Brooklyn Bridge, Clarke recalled, and called to confront hatred today "in all of its manifestations," whether it be "Anti Semitic attacks that took our beloved Ari's life, or the hate-fueled neo Nazi march in Charlottesville that took the life of Heather Heyer," she said.

Congresswoman Clarke praised Ari's mother, Devorah Halberstam, as "a crusader for justice and forceful advocate" for gun control.

She also established Brooklyn's iconic and award winning Jewish Children's Museum in Crown Heights, Clarke said.

"The uptick in acts of Anti Semitism targeting Jewish communities are truly alarming and must be confronted," Clarke said.

nice to see a democrat speaking some truth.
Gun control would have not stopped this tragedy, and the DEMS shouldn't use it as a ploy
