Why contribute to the Sichos In English fundraising campaign?
To find the answer, simply ask any of tens of thousands of English-speakers, young and old alike, what turned them on – and turns them on – to Chassidus and/or Torah and mitzvos, and what connected them – and connects them – with the Rebbe.
You can start your survey by visiting any work place, or [what would otherwise have been Chas VeShalom] a G-d-forsaken campus, and the answers will roll out freely.
An earnest student will tell you that thanks to the succession of unspiritual sermonizers he had encountered over the years he had almost given up on Yiddishkeit, until he ran into the first of many Sichos In English publications.
A successful businessman will tell you that in the same way, after years in the rat race had left him feeling dry and empty, he rediscovered solid meaning in his life via those publications.
A frum baalebos will explain that with all the will in the world he could not cope with the original texts singlehanded, until the stubborn language barrier finally collapsed, thanks to the Sichos In English translations and explanations of maamarim, sichos, Shulchan Aruch, and many other classics.
And many a chassidisher insider will confess that his day is enriched by a davenen that is nourished by a Sichos In English siddur, and is energized by his reading of HaYom Yom.
Above all, the most eloquent evidence of the value of Sichos In English publications is the sheer number of precious minutes and hours that the Rebbe invested over the years in giving detailed guidance to its writers and translators and editors – and, of course, in writing tzetlach in answer to the numerous questions of its tireless and warmly-loved director, Reb Yonah Avtzon, A”H. To enable his fire and fervor to continue inspiring his workers, this campaign must succeed.
Over to you.
Teachers and students – from preschool and beyond, benefit tremendously from SIE publications in print and online, the concepts, stories, biographies, halacha…
True and amazing work by Reb Yona.
On a separate note, its time for unzer bochurim/yungerlayt to pick up their Yiddish game like the Besht and the Rebbe and all in between, wanted.
Some are born great and others have greatness thrust upon them.Much success from a best friend💪👍
As a person involved in chinuch for many years
I can tell you that more and more of our own bochurim rely on translated work to keep their connection to limmud hatorah Alice
Sie now must double their efforts in translating all core curriculum studied in yeshiva so that we do not lose many if our boys simply because they cannot keep up and grow disconnected to the study of Torah and Chassidus….
Literally thousands have been inspired by sichos in english (probably at 60 percent off)
