The ten day winter camp has ended for European Tzeirei Hashluchos in Gothenburg, Sweden and campers have all arrived back home to shlichus locations around Europe with new energy. Campers and counselors enjoyed trips, learning, activities and inspirational farbrengens.
“My favorite part of camp was having fleishige hot dogs for Melave Malka after like a year of not having them!” laughs Shaina Wolf from Finland. “But no, really, we learned so much about hiskashrus. I feel so much closer to the Rebbe and realize there are so many things we can do to stay connected. Before I came to camp it wasn’t always easy to help others with their Yiddishkeit, but now I feel really strongly that the Rebbe is helping me in all that I do, so I know I can do it.”
Rochel Junik from London remarks thoughtfully, “I feel more like a shlucha now. It’s different for me than most of my bunk mates. Where I live there are tons of frum people. I don’t know how to explain it but there a feeling that you get in this camp that helps me realize what I have to do to be a Shlucha.”
Led by head counselors Chanie Cunin and Chanchie Namdar, the staff were outstandingly dedicated, devoted to the needs of every single camper.
“We are so amazed at these kids!” says a counselor from the US. “Most of them are raised in faraway shlichus locations all over Europe and they have such a solid chassidishkeit. The achdus and ahavas Yisroel between them is something unbelievable.”
Campers learned, on average, more than 25 Hayom Yoms each by heart in the 10 days of camp, and hundreds of lines of Basi Legani as a hachana for Yud Shvat.
“We come here to recharge our batteries,” smiles Chaya Rosenblum, 11, from Brussels. “Seeing other shluchos… being with my friends in camp you realize – I’m not the only one. So it’s easier to continue. Now I want to say chitas even when I get home.”
Gan Yisroel for European Tzeirei Hashluchos, Sweden is a project of Chabad of Sweden – directed by Rabbi Alexander and Leah Namdar– and My Shliach of Merkos Leinyonei Chinuch and Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky.
