Mr. Efraim Steinmetz, a longtime supporter of Chabad of Venezuela, passed away on Friday morning, 5 Shvat, 5779.
Mr. Efry Steinmetz was born in Hungary in 1927.
He was a devoted Chosid of the Rebbe, and merited to receive many kiruvim and advice from the Rebbe over the years.
On the instruction from the Rebbe, his family emigrated to Santo Domingo and later Venezuela.
A devoted community activist, he was one of the original supporters responsible for the founding of Chabad Lubavitch in Venezuela.
He later gave his home to become the Yeshiva Gedola of Chabad in Venezuela.
Reb Efraim was always involved in many acts of kindness, and a supporter of Chabad causes, most recently being involved in the building of a Mikva by Chabad in Santo Domingo.
He is survived by his wife Lore, and children, Bina Lebel, Shlomo Baruch, Linda Davidson, Binyomin, Suzy and Tammy.
The levaya will take place tomorrow, Sunday at 1 pm at Shomrei Hadas, 3803 14 Ave in Brooklyn.
The kevurah and shivah will take place in Israel.

Efry was a wonderful human being. Always smiling. My father Tibor loved him very much and I learned to appreciate him and his Family also. Smart and witty and a noble hart with an open hand. Always so kind & gracias with a big smile would welcome the buchrim that came on shlichus to Caracas into his home & made us feel more than welcome, he was a rare combination wealthy but also humble & genuinely kind & friendly , it’s been almost 30 years since I last met him but I’ll never forget him !

when he went into yechidus planning to leave caracas the rebbe told him not to burn his bridges behind him an expression that was just fresh off the streets. He kept in contact with people and eventually ended up having to go back to Caracas and that was a big blessing for him
