For close to three years, Yeshivas STaM in Crown Heights has been providing its one-of-a-kind program to students of STaM and aspiring Sofrim.
Founded and directed by Rabbi YY (Fitz) Rabin, the Yeshivas STaM program is distinguished by three qualities.
First, a curriculum of Shiurim on the Halachos of STaM. These Shiurim help aspiring Sofrim grasp much of the nuance that is obscured within Hilchos STaM in addition to clarifying and crystallizing aspects of the Halacha that would otherwise be confusing.
Second, complete training in the seven skills of writing STaM – specializing in the Alter Rebbe’s Ksav. Having theses skills and all of their components broken down in a uniquely structured and exacting way helps the future Sofer integrate them and achieve remarkable results from the very beginning.
Finally, personal care and attention. While the classes are held in a group format, groups are kept to a small size (5 max) and, in addition to the class time, Rabbi Rabin spends time with every student individually supporting them with whatever they need.
“My passion and commitment is STaM education” Rabin says. “If there is one thing that is glaringly missing in the field of STaM – it is education, and everyone is enriched by education in this sacred domain of Halacha”.
This coming Tuesday, Jan 8, 2019, at 8:30pm Yeshivas STaM will hold an event for anyone involved in the field of STaM. The first of a “continued education” series, these will provide Sofrim – novice and veteran alike, magihim, vendors, and all students of STaM and Torah a deeper understanding of a specific subject that is often not so well understood.
The event will be held at Rei’im Ahuvim – 1614 Carrol Street between Schenectady and Utica. There will be a special gift distributed to all attendees.

Somebody made the same comment to the Rebbe when he was learning in the early years. He responded that Chabad concentrates on refining ones inside and does not focus on Chitzonios. That said……Look closely at the picture and you will see a second head covering under his yarmulka. Judging could be funny sometimes.
Can the class be streamed?
in earlier years a soifer actually writing stam was dressed with hat and jacket, while writing at least
Yasher coach Rabbi Fitz, this is fantastic!
Is there a possibility for it to be videoed and uploaded for the
less fortunate who can’t make it?
Rabbi Rabin, please can the class be videoed so that this correct information can reach beyond the class attendants.
I am abroad but really want to know more….
please.
This class, while open to all men, will be a high-level class focusing on one specific aspect of the Halachos of STaM.
Events geared to basic consumer education will be held in the near future Gd willing.
That is what i hoped for the other day. More education, more experts instead of all the confusion and fuzziness that comes from not knowing and depending on others
Rabbi YY Rabin is doing great work in the trenches. Keep it up
Amazing program ran by Brooklyn’s craft sofer. And thanks to hasofer and rabbi Moshe Klein for hosting the program
Gotta love those earplugs! A lot better than the headphones some sofrim wear playing who knows what…
Keep up the great work of educating in your holy work.
