A Jewish man was injured in an unprovoked attack on Shabbos morning in Crown Heights.
At approximately 6:50 AM the Jewish male victim was walking in front of 728 East New York Avenue when he was approached by a black male black who struck him without saying anything.
The victim was able to grab the attacker’s glasses before he fled.
Police will be sending the glasses for DNA testing in an attempt to identify the attacker, police said.
The victim was taken to Methodist hospital with minor injury to both his ears.
NYPD Hate Crime Division has been notified, and is investigating as a possible bias incident.
In response, the 71st Precinct has arranged for extra police coverage in the area.

I agree 100% with #20 that these attacks are not random, and they’re suddenly happening way too often in the past 6 months, which shows they’re organized. While unprovoked attacks by blacks against Jews have been going on in Crown Heights for decades, and while we have many lovely black neighbors.. unfortunately many blacks of a different mentality are certainly capable of doing the attacks against Jews on their own (without being organized). Many out of town communities have heterim to carry in shul on shabbos. A local Rav (out of town) once asked R. Osdoba about getting an additional heter to carry on shabbos outside of an eruv. The answer given was that it is a decision the local robbonim of the place should make in determining whether or not there is a real danger and threat to justify carrying outside of an eruv…

Pepper spray is very very effective and one needs almost zero training to use it. Point and shoot. They will stop it they know they will get sprayed. I would not go anywhere without it if I lived in that zoo called Brooklyn. Takes many years to become a martial artist and to win a street fight so just get the spray and you have a great equalizer. Other states you can carry so no problems like this ever seen for they know their skull can get new ventilation.
There should be cameras on each street corner. These cameras are there recording 24/7. You will see these attacks and street crime diminish then stop.
Self defense class may be a good idea (although a weapon would be far more effective in defending oneself against an oversized, deranged creature). On the other hand, people should be aware, that if they DO defend themselves and successfully trounce an attacker, the police will finally “be everywhere at all times” -but to put the Jew in prison. May sound drastic, but these are the times and this is the place we live in and the types of people we deal with- best deal with things with with our eyes open.

Attacks are unfortunately happening ALL Over. While the CHJCC in addition to other community leaders are working very close with our Police but it is impossible for anyone including our police to be everywhere at all times.
