An evening marking the fourth yartzeit of Mrs. Gitta Gansburg will take place on Wednesday, Vov Kislev/November 14. The event, beginning at 8 p.m. will be held at Mrs. Gansburg’s home for 38 years, the dormitory at 1367 President Street.
During one of the Rebbe’s visits to the dormitory on the first night of Pesach, the Rebbe told Mrs. Gansburg, “Thank you for raising my daughters.”
Mrs. Gansburg devoted nearly four decades of her life to “raising the Rebbe’s daughters.” In this capacity, she worked together with her husband, famed chossid Rabbi Yitzchok (“Itchke”) Gansburg.
The event, “Five Minutes with Mrs. Gansburg” will feature 8 people who knew Mrs. Gansburg in different ways and at different times of her life. They will each share a teaching, memory of life-lesson from Mrs. Gansburg for five minutes.
The featured speakers are Rabbi Shloma Majeski, dean of Machon L’Yahadus, Mrs. Rivka Chitrik, who grew up with Mrs. Gansburg in Tel Aviv, Brocha Eisenbach and Hadas Tewel who were madrichos in the dorm, Shira Wasjbort, Tzippy Gajer and Miriam Lipchik who were students, and Mendy Chanin, her grandson.
This year’s students at Machon L’Yahadus, a division of NCFJE, hail from all over the United States as well as from Canada, Israel, Brazil, Venezuela, Uruguay, Russia and Ukraine.
The event will be broadcast on FB live on the Machon L’Yahadus facebook page @womensyeshiva. To donate in honor of Mrs. Gansburg, visit womensyeshiva.org/donate
As a former alum and I know I speak for many, just wanted to thank her children for sharing her with us. It must not have been easy to share your mother with so many hundreds of girls. May you all have guzunt and much nachas from your own children and grands.
I remember mrs Gansburg.
Such an amazing woman, really someone to live up to.

Just one of her exceptional characters we can apply to ourselves and try to live by, we have huge shoes to fill. She planted many seeds, her family and the machon family which has strong roots to them and beautiful fruit trees all over the world. The minhagim, chassidishkeit, niggunim, eidelkeit and much more – she was the living example together with her husband Reb Itchke of what and how we’re expected to lead our lives as Chabad Chassidim as as Torah Jews. May we be zoche to the Geulah Shleima with Moshiach Tzidkeinu Teikef Umiyad Mamosh now.
I miss her a lot !
