As you probably know, RCCS is the world-renowned organization that provides an array of services to cancer patients and their families, enabling them to secure the best possible medical care. Boruch Hashem, they have had the merit of helping to save many lives and provide hope and salvation to many families in their time of need.
We can get a glimpseof their work from the following recent story – which is just one of hundreds:
One morning, RCCS received a call from a patient of theirs from Cincinnati, Ohio who had unfortunately just been informed that they had relapsed. During his previous ordeal, due to the difficulties for someone in his position to travel, RCCS had arranged that this patient be treated at a local hospital in consultation with a top specialist in Indianapolis, Indiana.
At this point it was clear that the patient needed a specific chemo regimen, and that he begin it right away. Unfortunately, there is currently a shortage of this type of chemo in the United States, and the only place that had it was the hospital in Indiana. However, this patient did not have insurance to be treated in Indiana, and would be unable to receive the treatment he needed.
The RCCS office got to work trying to figure out what can be done to ensure that he should have insurance and be able to be treated immediately. While the RCCS team was shaking things up to try and help him find insurance, they were informed that there was another facility in Ohio that had the chemo medication as well. It was important that the doctor from Indianapolis be in touch with this new medical facility to make sure that the drug was being administered and specifically tailored for this patient. However, RCCS learned that the doctor was currently on vacation in California and was unable to be reached through regular channels.
RCCS reached out to the doctor on his private cellphone to ask him if he’d be willing to work with this new medical facility, and of course he was gladly willing to do so. B”H as of this writing the patient is being treated in his home state in Ohio, and we hope and pray that he sees a full recovery.
