There was much preparation in advance of Rosh Hashanah evening at the Jewish Center and the Marina Roscha synagogue in the center of Moscow, which hosted thousands of worshipers, a large variety of minyanim, and holiday meals for all, seated by common languages, ages and groups.
The main minyan was conducted by the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar, and at the conclusion of the service he gave all the congregants a personal blessing with an apple and honey, a pomegranate and a pocket calendar in Russian for the New Year.
The prayers were conducted by special guest Cantor Rabbi David Caytak.
On the second day, masses arrived in the courtyard of the central synagogue, to a special pool with live fish to perform the custom of Tashlich.
At this time, the dedicated team of gaba’im is preparing for Yom Kippur, for the arrival of a very large number of worshipers. At the same time, the huge sukkah which can seat about 1,000 diners is already being built for Sukkot.
Chazan Dovid Caytak is becoming as famous as Helfgot.
