Culminating the annual efforts of Chasdei Soul II Soul, tuition assistance was issued to Crown Heights families who are sending children with special needs to Jewish special education schools.
Board member Yossi Soffer joined Shmuly and Tzirl Goldman, founders of Chasdei Soul II Soul, in writing checks to various schools, including Yeshiva Livnas Hasapir, Ptach and Tiferes Miriam. Checks were also distributed to help fund lawyers who advocate on behalf of parents of children with special needs.
This year, the organization was called upon to help more families than ever before, as the need for assistance continues to grow.
“Whether it’s a payment to the school or to the lawyer, the cost is tremendous and often times creates a stressful burden in a family,” says Tzirl Goldman. “This occurs in families where two parents are working, one parent is working or r’l when there isn’t enough financial support to begin with. Chasdei Soul II Soul steps up to help families in any financial situation.”
Upon receipt of a check, one parent sent their thanks:
“I would like to thank Soul to Soul for the assistance with caring for my child. When you reach out to them you feel like that your reaching out to a family member with open arms ready and willing to do what they can to help you in any way. This is a beautiful organization which is managed by people with open hearts.”
Funding for this endeavor comes primarily from the annual Soul II Soul concert, an annual fundraising event in support of this cause.
Mr. Yossi Deutsch, CFO of BDHR, a sponsor at this year’s event says, “This organization is so unique because it helps ease the stress and burden of parents having to shell out tens of thousands of dollars for their special needs children. Tuition costs are so high for these children and the organization alleviates this extra stress so that the children can go to a top school that will care for each and every need in the best way to bring out the best in each of these children. It’s a true kiddush Hashem.”
“We need to do more during the year, not just at concert time,” says Yossi Soffer, board member. “As such, the board is in discussions now to ensure continuous support for Chasdei Soul II Soul with many other projects.”
Mrs. Rishe Deitsch, a longtime supporter of the organization, says she is proud to have seen its growth from assisting one family with three children in special education schools to many in our community.
“It’s my absolute pleasure to do whatever I can to help Chasdei Soul II Soul,” she says. “And I have been so proud to see this organization develop and grow to serve over 30 families in our community.”
Chasdei Soul II Soul thanks the community and its sponsors for supporting Jewish special education.
