Camp Gan Israel Chamah is currently running another season as per the directives of the Rebbe to help keep Jewish children in a warm, Jewish and healthy environment during the summer months.
In operation for 20 consecutive years, this day camp in Brooklyn, NY is part of a network of children’s summer programs that Chamah subsidizes and runs in Israel, Russia, and in the U.S.
The purpose of the 7-week day camp located in the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center is to give Jewish children (many of them from non-observant homes) an exposure to the richness and beauty of Yiddishkeit.
The camp is directed by Rabbi Efraim and Hannah Zaltzman, Rabbi and Rebbetzin of Young Israel of Brighton Beach and Directors of Chabad of Kingsborough.
They said that during camp, children are imbued with the love of Hashem, the Torah and to a fellow Jew, all in a fun-filled program.
The children are now in the midst of this great experience, enjoying swimming, sports, arts and crafts, Karate, aerobics, chess club, great trips and much more.
To date, countless children have received both physical and spiritual nourishment at Gan Israel Chamah. The superb program led by their talented and dedicated camp staff is of high quality.
Many children attend public school year-round. As a result of these children’s enriching Jewish experiences at Gan Israel Chamah, families have become more observant and involved with their local Jewish communities.
Many scholarships are provided by Chamah for the families who cannot pay the regular price. Chabad of Kingsborough provides scholarships as well.
