Rubashkins Congratulate Clarke

Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin and his wife Leah wrote a congratulatory letter to Congresswoman Yevette Clarke, Democrat from Brooklyn, on her win this past week in the primary election.

“We join the thousands of your constituents, wishing you congratulations, and Mazal Tov, on your primary win,” the Rubashkins wrote in a letter provided to COLlive.com.

The Rubashkins live in Monsey, NY, and cannot vote in Clarke’s Ninth Congressional District which includes Crown Heights, Flatbush, Kensington, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Midwood, Sheepshead Bay and Marine Park.

Nevertheless, the Rubashkins were supportive of Clarke who has petitioned both President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump to release Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin early from prison.

“Our entire family will forever be thankful to you, for your constant care and concern. You were helpful in every way you can, during our dire moments.”

“Thank you for being a true friend of the Jewish people and the land of Israel,” they added. “May Almighty G-d grant you success in your consistent advocacy for your constituents and grant blessings to you and your family.”

Following her primary win, Clarke personally thanked Crown Heights Jewish leaders for their support, among them activist Devorah Halberstam, co-founder of the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights and community activist.
