Over the weekend of Gimmel Tammuz, London hosted longtime Buffalo Shliach Rabbi Nosson Gurary, who spent many hours Farbrenging and inspiring Anash.
Rabbi Gurary’s visit started with a visit to the home of the late head Shliach, Rabbi Nachman Sudak obm, where he met with a group of Bochurim from local non-Lubavitch Yeshivos who have recently started learning Chasidus Chabad and were looking for guidance and direction in its study and application.
Following an hour-long discussion and farbrengen, the group made up to keep in touch with Rabbi Gurary over the phone and through other means.
Kollel Chasidus – Siyum and Farbrengen
The next stop was at the Tchaba Beis Medrash, where Rabbi Gurary was greeted by local Rabonim.
For the past two years, Yungeleit from various communities have been gathering weekly in this Beis Medrash to learn Chasidus Chabad, as part of a program organized by Yungeleit of the Lubavitch Kollel.
This group have recently completed the study of “Ha’umnam 5643” and “Ve’yadata 5657”, two fundamental Ma’morim of the Rebbe Rashab, which explain the concept of Achdus Hashem – the unity of G-d – and how there is nothing that truly exists besides Him.
To mark the occasion and in preparation for Gimmel Tammuz, a Siyum and Farbrengen was held which was advertised all over town. With his unique clarity and enthusiasm, Rabbi Gurary had the crowd captivated for many hours, while explaining and describing how to apply the above lofty concepts to our daily mundane lives.
For many, this was their first exposure to an authentic Chasidishe Farbrengen. For others, it was an eye-opener into seeing how these abstract concepts relate so much to their daily lives. Some went so far as to accompany Rabbi Gurary all the way to his accommodation to glean more insights into what they had just heard.
Shabbos in Golders Green
On Friday night, Rabbi Gurary spoke at a local Shul. Shabbos day was spent at Heichal Menachem, the Anash Shul in Golders Green. The Farbrengen started at 1pm and lasted till 7pm. Rabbi Gurary kept the tens of men and women captive with his stories and chassdius, all while demanding that this not be a day of sadness and lost hope, but rather a day where we keep connected and continue everything the Rebbe has asked us to do.
After the many hours of Farbrengen, Rabbi Gurary gave a Pirkei Avos Shiur at the local Khal Chassidim Shul where 70 yungerleit were assembled. While it started with a mishna, the speech soon turned into a short chasidishe Farbrengen about the Rebbe.
Towards evening, over 150 Anash from the surrounding Shuls Kingsley Way, Beis Gavriel, Hendon Chabad and Heichal Menachem, together with the bochurim of Yeshiva Ketana and Gedola, gathered at the Yeshiva Ketana for a communal program. After shiurim in the Rebbe’s torah give by Rabbis Mendel Gordon and Shalom Osdoba, everyone sat & washed for Seuda Shlishis. After a short speech from the Mara De’asra Rabbi YM Hertz, the guest speaker Rabbi Gurary just continued his Farbrengen, with more stories and inspiration for this special day.
As Shabbos ended the atmosphere in the room was special, as everyone sang the niggun daled bavos, the unity was felt by everyone. But the Farbrengen didn’t end, as after Havdala the bochurim asked Rabbi Gurary to continue to sit with them, which he agreed to.
Sunday night, Neshei Ubnos Chabad had a central event in Beis Lubavitch, where Rabbi Gurary gave an impassioned speech, highlighting the unique quality and position of a chabad woman in her home.
The events were coordinated by a vaad of local Anash with help from Agudas Chassidei Chabad Ha’Olomi.
