Too often we live life by rote, on autopilot. Our days blend into each other in a constant rotation of the same activities. Get up, go to work, go home, go to sleep, repeat. The momentum of life carries us from one meal to the next, one day to the next, one month to next….ad infinitum. In many ways, life has lost meaning. It’s about survival, rather than growth. About meeting deadlines rather than creating goals.
Perhaps we have long term goals of achieving a meaningful life- raising a family, having a career, living a life of Torah, mitzvos and chassidus. But what is missing are the small acts of meaning that make each day something unique and special. Perhaps it’s about connecting in a meaningful way to the people that we love. Perhaps it’s about a different perspective that adds joy to our lives. Perhaps it’s about small changes that help us focus on the most important parts of life.
This will be the topic of an upcoming event by Junior Nshei of Crown Heights featuring Rabbi Samuels, widely known and respected for his wit, humor and insight. Rabbi Samuels will address the question “Is your life a meaningful one?” and give ideas on recognizing the opportunity in each day. At the end of each day, we should be able to reflect and say that “Today was a good day.” Instead of each day flowing into the next, we should look forward to tomorrow as a new day full of potential for us to be good and do good.
Additionally, this event will be honoring a woman who is a Pillar of the Community and whose chesed is inspirational. It is the privilege of Junior N’Shei to recognize Mrs. Hindy Brusowankin, a state certified foster parent, for her contributions to the welfare of children in our community.
Last but not least, there will be the annual “Auction for You”, where ladies can put tickets in to win prize packages, not for their husband or kids, but rather for themselves!
If you are looking for ways to maximize your days and make each one count, be sure to attend Junior N’shei’s upcoming event. Life is too precious to waste on autopilot. Be present, be active and be meaningful.
