Rabbi Yosef Sayagh, Director of the International Association of Professional Shatnez Testers in Lakewood, New Jersey, will be visiting Crown Heights this Tuesday evening, June 12th at 8:30 pm.
He will be giving a shiur and PowerPoint presentation on the practical halachos of shatnez to educate both young and old at Kollel Menachem – 1493 Union Street, Brooklyn, corner of Kingston.
“Not only will wool and linen be shown, but שוע טווי ונוז which determines which garments are שעטנז will also be explained,” organizers said.
Rabbi Sayagh will be advising the attendees as to which garments are to be tested at a professional shatnez laboratory. He will attempt to increase proper awareness by addressing current relevant shatnez concerns.
Recent shatnez findings will be shown, which may include Taleisim, ties, sweaters, jackets, UGGS boots, and shoes, among other items. Many of the items to be shown had been purchased at stores owned by religious Jews.
A question and answer period will follow. The event is for men and women. Rabbi Sayagh will then proceed to professionally test garments that are brought to the shiur by the attendees.
