Principals from various Jewish schools in Crown Heights gathered this week at the office of the new educational organization Gidulim to offer their input.
Gidulim, a center for Jewish parenting, began its work this earlier this year to guide and assist parents to navigate the formidable task called parenting.
Since its inception, the organization started a Jewish parenting magazine named 30 Minutes, launched a parenting advice line, and initiated a chinuch speakers’ bureau.
At the open house, principals shared experiences and gave suggestions on the type of programs they thought would benefit the community most. Ideas were exchanged, many of which the Gidulim staff hope to implement in the near future.
“It was refreshing to see how much our principals care for the good of their students – even outside of school,” said Gidulim director Rabbi Shimon Hellinger. His vision is to create an infrastructure to empower parents at every stage, through parenting classes and individual support.

Gidulim sounds great!
So much you can learn from my sons principal (Rabbi Yuzevich of Ohr Menachem).. Always reaching out and working with parents!!
It’s so uplifting to see authentic chassidishe yet professional work being put into the chinuch of our children. Thank you gidulim, and thanks col for keeping us posted!
Schools just don’t have the ability to provide all the support that parents need.
The 30 minutes and pirkei avos parenting videos are so refreshing. I’m excited about this and can’t wait to see what’s next.
This is such a good resource. Why dont I see any of the principles from Darchai attending?
