Message from Menachem Polonsky:
Refuah sheleima l’Yehoshua Refoel halevi ben Yocheved
Team Shua Strong:
An update and I urge you to read this entire letter all the way to the end. The first part will be drastic. The second part positive. The third is a call to action.
We have just heard back from the doctors who looked at Shua’s stomach and colon today. They told us it was worse than they hoped and that Shua’s GI Tract looks to have gone undergone serious damage. Irreparable damage. They have told us there is nothing more they can do. They gave us the sentence. They said Shua has days if not hours left to live.
That is what they said.
Let’s go through this journey. We were told Shua’s heart is not working. Two heart surgeries followed. Then they told us his kidneys took a hit. Then his arms. His legs. His liver. Then there was clot in his heart and so they feared for a stroke (ie brain damage) and completed a third heart surgery to clean it out. Each time the doctors gave us the worst. Each time we turned to Hashem and prevailed. Now Shua’s stomach and IG tract is taking the hit. And his life is at stake, again. Hashem has decided that no part of Shua will be left untouched. The doctors don’t believe. We do.
This is another test. A hard one. They are not giving us any hope. But man does not decide life or death nor how long one has to live. Hashem does. And so we turn to him. We thank Him for healing Shua. We ask for another victory. We are confident that he will and is already healing Shua.
We will prevail. That is what we believe.
The call to action is to go above and beyond. If your feeling down right now, smile, go listen to a good song and sing with joy. Joy breaks all boundaries. Take a moment to feel alive. And thank Hashem for that feeling. Go eat something and thank Hashem for it. Do a kind deed. Say Tehillem. Learn Torah, it’s life. Go in your Instagram and like everyone’s photos. Everyone deserves love. Whatever you do, do something positive and spread some light.
Because you can.

Think positively and it will be good! Sounds like this is the motto that you’re living by. That’s truly amazing but even more than that it’s precisely what Shua שי״ needs right now too! He can hear you, tell him you’re with him and rooting and davening for him and that he WILL with Hashems miracles and kindness get through this trying time! For him to hear that the doctors have given up is difficult. He needs to know his family and friends and all his “extended family” – brothers and sisters -haven’t! He can and WILL recover BEZ’H.
